Performance Shops near NYC

Hi bimmerpost! I've placed an order on a 2021 M340i which should arrive sometime in November. I want to take it to a reliable performance shop within a 1 hour drive from Brooklyn NY. This shop should have the ability to work on ecu flashes, jb4 installations, exterior add ons like lips, splitters, installations of spark plugs, catted downpipe, etc. I'll be looking to get 400whp once I'm done which shouldn't be too difficult and need it to be safe for the approval of the yearly inspection necessary for New York registered cars. If this shop does detailing like clear coats, and the installation of laser jammers/radar jammers, thats a big plus as well. The shop should be experienced, knowledgeable and help guide me in the right direction. Any suggestions on such a shop? Thank you!

Do not go to Motorcepts. This was my experience a few years back, I doubt it's gotten any better since a few friends have had similar less than stellar experiences recently too (as of earlier this year).

I always vouch for AutoCouture because I've had extremely good experiences with them. They tend to be on the pricier side of the echelon, but it's better to pay up to get things done correctly the first time rather than taking it to some place with an ok reputation and having to do it twice or have your car in shop for extended periods of time. I speak from personal experience.

I hit up RCT for an install on an MST intake and JB4 and they wanted $400 which is ridiculous. I asked what their hourly labor rate was and the install time for each part - no response.

Maybe it's worth it to shop around. The prices at RCT have been reasonable for me as they installed my AA midpipe and three can exhaust for me. It took about almost 3 hours and the price quoted was under $300.

Maybe not the cheapest around but they do quality work.

Actually ended up getting installed already in Flushing. Install time was under 2 hours at $280 which makes much more sense with reasonable cost.

Might be a bit longer than one hour from Brooklyn but these guys are top notch.

You said 1 hour from Brooklyn, but didn’t say how fast you drive

If Stratford, CT is close enough, I have heard nothing but good things about @theshopCT. They have the world record for fastest m240 right now…7.94 in the 1/4 mile at 175mph+

Btw, if you just want 400whp you can probably get close to that with just an AA catted downpipe. Stock cars dyno 350whp +/- 15hp, and the AA DP would add 20-30whp alone…. A cold air intake won’t add much, but maybe 5-6whp
