There would be just too many models to keep track of. Also, European market releases and updates are more chaotic than the much more straightforward US model years. Finally, I'm in the U.S., which is the only country that matters, right? Right? RIGHT? (Choose your answer wisely, or you'll get some tariffs!)

I think you’ve got every other UK/EU model on the list, except the i8/i3 (and the 2 series active/grand tourer, but they are a disgrace to the BMW badge anyway!)

And as for US being the only country that matters, well, as far as British colonies go, the US has come a long way, but you guys still have a way to go!

Dang I am saddened by the loss of the smaller GT model. Looks are subjective, but I really enjoyed the looks of the 3er GT, the praticality of a SUV with none of the drawbacks helped as well. I thought it sold well enough in China to justify it? I thought the rumors slated flr the discontinuation of the GC model not the GT?

I guess a lowered X4 might be the closest option going forward.

Hey guys,

Just trying to understand the whole end of productive and new model schedule thing better. With the F80 going out of production this year and the new model not being available for a couple of year, does it essentially means that BMW will not be offering M3s during this transition?

Thanks

It is how it always goes... m cars are delayed intro so they go on a 1 or 2 year hiatus each redesign cycle

Thanks for the clarification. Can anyone confirm if we can still place orders for the F80 in Canada? My dealer told me last week that they will have to find me something from the existing inventory because new orders are no longer possible due to production end.

He is trying to push the Premium and Driver Assist packages on me while I keep telling him that all is want is the exec package.

The F80 is out of production, so you're going to have to take what you can find.

With the cancellation of G24, I'm really curious to hear Scott's new explanation of the absence of G21 in the U.S.
It seems in the US both 3er GT and Touring are completely outmatched in sales by the X3. With X3 outperforming both combined.

Certainly the choices of X3 will be increased in the US market especially in the EV category with the full EV iX3 and hybrid X3 iPerformance. And of course the High Performance X3M.
Still no US production identified for G21 (as of now)

With the GT originally it was to be combined 5er GT style as the 4er GT, however a new Gran Coupe has taken precedent what with the new 8 forming a path for a smaller series model reflecting the larger 8 series family. The styling direction certainly of the 4er Coupe will equal a very dynamic styled offering in the Gran Coupe that they are discussing the possibility of the first M4 Gran Coupe.

Then we have the production model of the Visioni Dynamics to be known as the i4. Again with GT and 4er Gran Coupe it would be somewhat crowded.

This makes sense as the M5 and M8 are completely distinguished from each other that no one can state M8 is just an M5 Coupe as they did with the M6.
To do so would offer distinct space for M3 vs M4.

Of course we have to consider the progress and we will see further implementation of the core, progress and escalation of an M series.

Whilst some models will offer less progress than others due to their particular series. What we will see which is actually marketing genius as shown in M2 and M5 Competition. Is for the model to become additional therefore increasing the margin and offering another additional supplemental model or models.
Let me know when the " marketing genius"' of the M2 includes some attention to curb weight ..

I've been on a list at my dealer for an M2 CSL (aka M2 further progress ) since late 2015.

However ... in three years of waiting I've watched the M2 add 150 lbs of mass and I've been teased by a list of CF parts than can be added, but not added by the factory ..

At the current time , I'm highly skeptical of getting an M2 anywhere near 1M curb weight of 3295 ( US spec 3450 for OG M2 and 3600 for M2 " competition ") so I've rather abandoned the hope that an upcoming model will be called. "CSL"' as M2 GTS seems more appropriate.

I've Also been advised by forum members that BMW only intends to keep weight ON an M2 CS, CSL, or GTS by slapping a DCT weight penalty transmission on it as the only option.

That is Quite shocking of course as we see that Porsche will bring a 911 GT3 manual and likely a Cayman GT4 manual to the US in the next year or so.

I imagine that bmw will give the F82 treatment to a 2er and come up with a CS model in DCT trim. Yawn.

I would love for them to throw their M2 perf catalog at an M2 , use the M4 GTS suspension setup, and aero and a cage. Leave the cool man OLED lights on the M4 rack along with the water injection setup to keep costs ( and weight ) down and make sure to leave 6MT standard and keep DCT as an optional item along with CC brakes.

If there is an M2 racing model alongside a true CSL type model , it would be an insane buzz for BMW closing out the F8X M cars. While I've made the jump from the E30 -E46 cars , there are many many old school BMW fans that have not, particularly the E30 M3 crowd, because the racing heritage is lacking.

[ist][*]G01 X3 and G02 X4 will be getting the new dash next year for MY2020. That's also when we'll see the hybrid X3 xDrive30e with the same motor as the upcoming G20 330e, uprated to 275hp.[*]US G05 X5 xDrive40d (aka 30d in all other countries) is somehow still alive for the release next year.[/list]

Regarding this update for the G01 X3 hybrid, is this saying that xDrive30e is delayed until a MY2020 with an updated engine -OR- that there is still a MY2019 coming out but that it will be updated in MY2020 with a new engine?

I read that as MY2020 is the first year for the hybrid.

Correct. Just keep in mind that its MY2020 could start any time in 2019 - though my money would be on August.

Is there an EOP for F87? Seems like F22 ends 6/21 but I'm wondering if that's the same for M2s and their variant.

Probably depends on the timing, availability, and transmission choice for me.

It should be, but you now have literally weeks if not days to place your order.
