iDrive controller stopped working
I just took it out for a little drive andy noticed that the iDrive controller isn't registering the up/down/left/right selections. The scrolling and push to enter work still. I reset iDrive but didn't help. Turned the car off and went inside for an hour to see if it was just a little glitch...still nothing.
Anyone else experience this? I guess I'll be making a service appointment

Of course I got an appointment today (cancellation) and sure enough just as I'm about to drive to the dealer, I check the iDrive controller and it works perfectly lol. I drove around, turned my car on and off about a dozen times and it kept on working. Obviously I wasn't going to drive to the dealership for them to tell me they can't find anything wrong. Hopefully it was just a small glitch and that's it. I know leaving the car for almost 2 months with very little driving can do funny things...maybe it's just that.

Yup. The scrolling works...press it in to enter works...just not the click up down left right that doesn't work.

I know nobody is following this, but in case it happens to anyone else...update! lol
BMW had my car all Wednesday and part of Thursday trying to figure it out (apparently when they hooked up their diagnostic tools up the up/down/left/right motions worked). Anyways, ended up being a faulty iDrive control knob...they replaced it and it's good as new. Hopefully the electrical gremlins stop at this...

The connection points on the iDrive module worked fine but I guess the actual contact points on the wheel itself were dead. I'm just happy they resolved it pretty quickly. They gave me a X3 40i as a loaner...I had forgotten how they drove. SO similar to the M340i but a lot more more body roll but definitely a more compliant/softer suspension setup (and I have the adaptive suspension for comparison).
