Wireless charging is an expensive waste in this car. Slow and overheats the phone. Better to just plug it in or use a 12v usb charge. The enhanced Bluetooth is worthless unless you still carry around two phones.

I have two phones, business and pleasure lol but it works really well with both connected.

Mine charges slow but found mine didn't get as hot when I switched from a silicone case to the apple leather one.

Also found when I have the rear climate control on the phone gets hotter.

Every new phone coming out has tools and capacity so there’s no reason to have two phones connected at once. Plus batteries are only lasting longer pants another negative for a wireless charging. I can’t imagine why BMW would charge such a high price for something that’s really unnecessary and doesn’t work well.

Works super well??? Mine just seems to be slightly better than a trickle charge. I can leave it in the tray for an hour and only gain 10% or 15%

I find the wireless charging and mobile hot spot option combination to be money well spent personally. Its nice to be able to just sit the phone on the pad without Waze draining the battery. My radar detector receives Escort Live data without running the horrible Escort Live phone app (also saving battery) thanks to the Wi-Fi hotspot.

Here's one that hard wires into the tray. I have wireless charging on my F32 440i, with the weird spring loaded tray, and I wish I'd bought the Alibaba version instead.

I just bought and installed this:

https://www.carqiwireless.com/products/wireless-charging-for-2019-bmw-3-series-330i-m340i-g20

It is just plug and play. All plugs fits and no cutting wires or anything. They have changed the plugs in the video.

It took 5 min. to install.

That means you don't have wireless charging, you have the NFC pad

Insanity that wireless charging was required to get on screen text messages. What a stupid idea.

What do you pay for the mobile hotspot in the US? I am complaining to BMW Customer Services at the moment as in the UK we only have one tariff - £9.50 for 1GB p/m (c.$12). Each top-up is another £9.50 for 1GB.

I have no issue with paying $10 to $20 p/m but I want enough data to last the month! They advertise it here saying you can watch episodes of your favourite program or do video conference calls. This is true as long as you only do one of them once a month!

I pay $20 / month. I think through AT&T, technically the data is unlimited, with the caveat that they can throttle after a certain amount. I've never had an issue with it though. So nice to be able to pull out iPad Pro or laptop without tethering to and draining phone, and have connected devices like the Max360c pulling in live alerts.

You really dont need the wireless charger to have enhanced bluetooth support; Only VO coding (6NW) with E-sys.

Wow, wireless charging is standard on pretty much all new BMWs in Australia for a while now, as is extended Bluetooth. Never realised how contentious a topic it is for everyone! Anyway, I find it useful and neat plus it charges my iPhone 11 Pro just fine.

Erm, I can think of at least two valid use cases:
- Passenger wants to stream music but driver still wants to make and receive calls (or vice versa)
- Both drive and passenger want to speak on phone call being made through passenger's phone

Thank you FrostNixon. Is there anymore room in the top and bottom after you place the phone in the Charging Tray? Just trying to see if in the future I buy a phone bigger and longer than S20 ultra will it fit or not. Currently I have a Note 10+.
