Just purchased 'Connected music' for £60 which was installed OTA. Then contacted BMW who said that Spotify will be available again remote from Apple car play in a few weeks. I drive screen clearly shows that Spotify is part of the package.

When you say 'remote from Apple carplay', do you mean that it'll be back as an option without the need for carplay, or to use Spotify via carplay?

I'd like to know if those for whom Spotify hasn't disappeared are seeing it because they use Apple iPhones or Android devices, to see if the issue with it disappearing is related to the phone connected?

Yes I was very clear with them that I had only purchased 'Connected Music' because it was separate from Apple car play which I will not be renewing once expired i.e. Spotify runs and uses the cars sim therefore without the need of your mobile phone being in the car.

Just to clarify I have an iPhone 8 and was able to use Spotify from the cars sim without my phone until recently. I currently have to use Apple Car Play to access Spotify.

As stated elsewhere, my Spotify is still working using the car sim. I don’t need the phone in the car to use this.

It is weird how the web page (connected drive) does not show Spotify as a music source. Only Deezer and Napster as far as I can see yet Xsapper’s screen clearly shows Spotify..... but didn’t get Spotify

So this morning, jump in the car and without any sign of a software update, Spotify is suddenly working again. 😊

It's like the car has a mind of its own...... 🙄

If you have logged in to one of them, the other options will not be shown. Are you logged in to the BMW Music service? For Napster etc, to return as an option you have to be logged out.

To log out,I think the process is to highlight a song in the music service, then press the option button on the centre console and select logout.

I assume that those people still seeing connected music in the menu are still in their three months free trial or have paid £60 for it?

Mine runs out next week, but until I get the option of Spotify, I won't be renewing.

so, just to be sure:
there is connected music and separate spotify option in media.
if I want to use my own spotify account - I should use spotify itself, not the connected music?

I got my 330e the 22nd of october (very satisfied so far). Straight away signed in to Spotify in iDrive and it has been working perfectly since then. I haven't even touched Connected Music or tried streaming music from my phone via bluetooth just to be extra careful that it doesn't disappear. I'm crossing my fingers it'll continue to work the way it does right now.

If you have a Spotify option then use that.

I have is no mention of Spotify on my idrive, so the only way I can use it is via bluetooth on my phone which works ok but is using my phone sim and data rather than the car's.

My connected drive only has Deezer, Napster and BMW music as options. These expire at the end of the month. Deezer and Napster still require me to have a premium account with either of those services as well as the £60 to BMW. BMW music uses Napster and is £120 a year.

Hope this helps.

If you look at my post dated 18/10 you will see a pic of my idrive clearly showing that Spotify is part of Connected Music therefore I assume you should be able to use Spotify from the cars sim card

Yes, that was my experience. As soon as I signed into the Connected Music trial, my iDrive Spotify disappeared. Signed out and it came back.

I’ve never used the connected drive trial. Spotify was available on the media menu. Logged in using my own Spotify account. Works on both keys (other key has own profile (wife’s).

It all seems to be down to which software version you have. I currently have 03/2019.60 which makes no mention of Spotify and no matter how many times you try and speak with the so called "BMW Geniuses" at BMW or a dealership, no one knows what the latest version is or what functionality it should give you. All you get from them is that the car will update itself. So far I'm only aware of one person who has had an OTA update but it was still only to a 03/2019 version.
