Progress so far with my M440

Order received: 9/8/2020
Scheduled for production: 9/8/2020
Production begins: 9/24/2020

Looks like there's still a significant backlog since mine sat for over 2 weeks before production started

The status for my car has moved to "Final Assembly" state and I can't wait for it to be shipped.

Apologies if this has been answered before, but is there a way for me to tell if my 2021 330e is being produced in Mexico or Germany? I asked the Genius, and she didn't know.

I did some e-stalking of my car and found some potentially interesting info for those that are currently stuck in the "Ready For Transport" stage.

I looked at the schedule for the Altamira port and it looks like the vessel "HONOR-NB023" may be the ship our cars are loaded on. It's the only vehicle carrier that fits our criteria that is on the schedule. It departed from Galveston as well (there's a BMW vehicle distribution center in Galveston). It's set to arrive on 9/26/2020.

Take this with a grain of salt, some of my underlying assumptions could be wrong.

The first letter of the VIN indicates place of manufacture. A 3 means Mexico.

Well that would be a wonderful surprise if true!

If I’m right, that would have the cars departing on September 27th. According to my dealer it’s usually 10 days until the cars get to the dealer once they’re on the boat.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking.. who knows.

Hey if that is true that is going to amazing news! Do all cars always go out of Altamira port or can it differ?

And with your 10 day estimate are you on the east coast?

Yeah, I’m in Auburn/Opelika, Alabama. The dealer I’m getting the car from is in Atlanta.

As far as them always leaving Altamira.. that’s one thing I’m not sure of. The last batch did leave from Altamira though.

I wonder if west coast cars use a port on the west coast of Mexico. Would save some transport time if so.

For what it's worth, and I'm not thrilled about it, but my M340 was delivered to Baltimore on 9/16. The port installed options finished on 9/21... and it still hasn't moved from the port!! I live 30 miles from the port, how hard is it to transport a a car???? Btw I'm watching a rerun of Top Gear so I might be channeling a bit of Clarkson.

Anyways, if the Oct deals are better as folks have assumed, then I'm better off for this lag in delivery. I'm financing (not leasing) so hope it works in my favor.

Your brave, I would wait until October first it's a few more days, if the incentives are better you you never know lol

my dealer is also about a 15-20 min drive from the port, probably if your loyalty customer and they increase that incentive.

There are a few vehicle carriers arriving in Altamira over the next 3-5 days. I hope your car and my car make it onto one of them.

Don't forget, BMWs are not the only cars that get transported out of that port, there are factories for VW, Audi and Ford all nearby that port. So some of the carriers may be carrying other make vehicles. Lets cross our fingers.

Given that almost all of the recent ships transporting BMWs from Mexico (based on this thread at least) are GLOVIS vessels, I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope of getting on one of the roll on/roll off vessels arriving in the next week or two, since none are GLOVIS.
