Has anyone here been flagged by the dealer yet?

I've seen this picture and a few others going around. Supposedly as soon as they plug up the car at the dealer now, this is what comes up. I've been lucky enough so far to not update nor bring the car in for anything where my tech has to plug up the car. As it turns out, one of my mirrors decided to die the other day so now in order to get it replaced, he has to plug the car in and diagnose it. On Mission Performance E40 but going to flash back to stock and hope for the best. Also would like to know what follows once this occurs at the dealer...

You won't know unless they tell you, and most techs won't care as they are trying to complete the work quickly. That said, if your motor goes later, you will know right away if they flagged you. Since it is automated, just assume you will be flagged. I assume my car is even though I have only done minor coding and no tunes, flashes, etc :-/

OP: My response is really for general forum consumption - thanks for posting this, it's a great topic

For my 2-cents....there is nothing they can or will do. And this holds true for flashes, piggybacks (both of which can be detected....just by different means) intakes, springs etc...

IMHO it doesn't really matter if your car is "flagged" - because despite rumors to the contrary there is no pro-active voiding of warranty (that notion was propagated by just a few individuals - and is now known to be false)

If you have a catastrophic failure and the dealer determines that the piggyback or flash (really unheard of with a simple stage 1 or 2 piggyback or flash) or springs or intake or downpipe or bavsound amp or non oem sized wheels/tires or aftermarket brakes, or bimmercode coding or exhaust or or or.... is at fault sure you may have to go out of pocket but that's just business as usual.

In terms of a warranty denial there is really no difference if they automatically determine your car is modified prior to a failure or have to search for the modification after - the outcome remains the same.

PS:
Like I've said already this holds true for any non oem modification to your car and is not limited to engine performance. As an example, my dealer knows I have Dinan springs (kinda obvious) and if my suspension should fail (whatever that may mean) I fully expect to go out of pocket for the repair - I have no warranty concerns that my suspension is going to fail - the drop is moderate and well researched and developed.

Disclaimer:
I am happily modified with Mission Stage 2 - and after several BMWs (all Mission flashed) and many many very hard miles (AutoX, Drag, Canyon etc...) I have zero warranty concerns - the flash is responsibly designed and well researched and developed (hell Toyota Global had MP develop a flash for their very own TRD B58 equipped Supra which they displayed on a world stage)

Note:
Not even the current U.S. lease contract says otherwise - here is the ONLY section (32) of the current U.S. lease agreement that addresses modifications of any kind

The one and only reason I went with the CarBahn tune w/warranty, regardless of the fact that a great majority of the brand name, non-warrantied tunes/flashes out there are generally reliable. It's that 1% scenario stuff that scares the heck outta me; can't imagine the out-of-pocket cost for non-warranty repairs on these German cars.

I've had a few flash customers who were auto flagged and informed any power train warranty claims will be denied. A small price to pay for the performance we all want!

Did you flash it 71 times lol? And what was the reasoning for them hooking up to OBD II?

I blew the cooling heat management part, so I’m guessing they scanned it for the cel, and I’m pretty sure I did flash the car that many times

Jesums magoo...why so many flashes? Were you running a program where you could change maps on the fly?

Makes sense. Was the dealer a dick about it?

Yes they are currently fighting with me over a 400$ part the engine heating cooling management that broke , which a flash tune would no way effect that one part so now I’m back and forth with bmw na
