that's what i thought, ut i was using radio or usb before and every time I entered the car, it openend Apple Car Play and started Spotify. It annoyed me so much, that i deleted Spotify. I think that has to do with the Automation of BMW, which I did not want to turn off but pretty sure will in the near future, as these automations are not useful for me. They can also only be activated/deactivated, but you can't turn off 1 specific function.

No, I meant that you probably were using a media app on your iPhone before you entered the car. That's why it probably started playing Spotify via Carplay.

As soon as CarPlay works in my car, 8: Sound Settings will be changed to CarPlay.

I thought of that, but Spotify was closed (not even open in the background). Anyways, I'm oldschool and I prefer to use my USB stick for music. :-)

I figured this out. I think you have set the shortcut to Apple CarPlay Audio instead of only Apple CarPlay. There is a difference from where you create the shortcut button (1-8) to CarPlay.

When you go to Media > Apple CarPlay and from there you hold one of the eight buttons, it will save it as Apple CarPlay Audio.

That means everytime you hit to specific button, it will go to the audio app in Apple CarPlay and starts playing.

When you go to Apps > enter leftside menu > Apple Carplay and from there you hold one of the eight buttons, it will save it as normal Apple CarPlay and it will just go to Apple CarPlay and shows you the app you had open the last time you used CarPlay.

You can check this by touching (not pressing!) the specific shortcut button. When it says Apple CarPlay Audio, it means you have saved it from the Media section.

If it says Apple Carplay, it means you have saved it from the Apps section (prefered way!)

You can't map specific CarPlay apps to one of the eight buttons.
The Music app is the only one you can map.. I explained it in my post above.

Otherwise it will just launch the last app you had active within Apple CarPlay.

TLDR:
- Map Apple CarPlay from Media > Apple CarPlay: It opens the Music app (hence the name of the shortcut button: Apple CarPlay Audio)
- Map Apple CarPlay from Apps > Apple CarPlay: It opens the last active app in Apple CarPlay (name of the shortcut button: Apple CarPlay)
