I'm always starting a drive at least once a day with a "climatized while plugged in" car so that improves my range and thus predictions too. |

Today I was able to do 56km with a single charge.
No AC, 80kmh, no high accelerations. Difference between start and end altitudes = -300 meters, so the route was more downhill than uphill. |

Today was the coldest day in BE since I had the car and I had the best prediction ever... 54 km But the last few km before plugging in I was doing 17 something KWh/100km on an industrial estate at 50km/h |

I’m making a “study” of my daily commute of 35km each way (37km the way back home). First thing noted is that a small difference on the altitude (75 meters on the 35km route) so far makes a 3 kWh/100km difference on one way vs the other.
On the same route, depending on the weather (this week is very windy and rainy) and traffic, I see a 3kWh/100km difference (the worst the longest in time trip, due to heavier rain and traffic), which means a 7km of total range. So even same driver, same route, same target speed, you can have a significant difference. Comparing different drivers on different routes can drive us nuts. I would just say that on very good conditions, not uphill at all, at 120km/h the car should be a bit less than 20kWh/100. PS: it’s really funny to try to get the best range while beating the best average time/speed |

Okay so this is an overview of my trip from Stirling to Leeds and back with no chance to charge.
Some thoughts: 1. Pleasantly surprised at the 51mpg on the way down (with a 100% charge) 2. Even more surprised with 46mpg on the return leg with a depleted battery (identical route and driving style) 3. Overall with an almost 48mpg return on best part of 500 miles with no charge - I’m really happy with that. Doesn’t beat my last car - but it’s close enough on the long journeys to make it a close run thing when factoring in daily commute Final observation: the tiny fuel tank is a little irksome. Bit of a PITA having to stop to refuel on a journey of this type. Not costing me more, just a bit of an inconvenience. Happy with my choice upon reflection 1500miles in ! |

All this talk of fuel consumption; has anybody actually verified the on-board computer's accuracy? I've always verified my cars' economy by brimming the tank each time and working out the fuel economy myself and comparing it with the OBC. Over the last 20 years I've found BMWs to be the most accurate (compared with Audi and MB), but that's not to say there haven't been some inconsistencies. I currently own an R8, X5 (G05) and a BMW 318i (F30). The R8 is always about 2mpg over-optimistic. The X5 is usually on the button or even a bit pessimistic, so I get better than the OBC says I achieved. The 318i, however, is always over-optimistic by 3mpg. The last fill up said I achieved 32.0mpg, when the reality was I achieved only 29.0 mpg.
So, I wonder how accurate the 330e (G20) is? |

Apart from a66 where it was more likely 60 odd stuck behind whatever vehicles there were. So fairly sedately - but just wanted to see what it could do. Reckon it’d return around 42 on same journey at 80 on cruise most of the way. |

Hi all (Wassup this will be useful for you),
So this is my data from this trip. Remember though, my initial reason for starting this thread was because despite BMW stating the car does 41mpg and WLTP figures stating 34-36miles my car has only every charged to 20-21miles when stationary and plugged in at home and off. Its plugged in now and the 100% range looks to be around 18miles which is shocking. The trip however has been good regarding usage and with an average of 51mpg (ive stuck at 65mph on the motorways), no harsh accelerating or braking and with heated seat on a bit and the climatise now function used in the morning its pretty good. I put the car in battery mode twice to charge the car up to 10 miles just before i got the the hotels this week so that i could warm it up remotely. This isnt pre conditioning as the warming of the battery wasnt involved. I have drove in eco pro mode most of the time and like a fanny to be honest but the numbers look good. Its just my battery capacity at 100% thats an issue. My maths worked out that as a company car if i hit 42mpg then i can break even so at 51 im making a little cash so its a good choice as a company car. If you get it after april the BIK will be lower still (not 12%). Car in in BMW tomorrow to look at the battery so ill see what they say. |

Thanks for the info DriftymcDriftFace, its edging me closer towards 330e. At 51mpg i guess you could cover your charging costs aswell.
My car isnt due until the summer, but i need to order around march, so yes it will be nice to save a few more quid on tax, which is why im going down the hybrid route in the 1st place! |

No problem Wassup. 51mpg works out at 11p a mile and we are getting 14p so with my trip of 768 (0.03x764) thats 22.92 in my pocket. Id like to enjoy the car a bit so as long as im hitting 46 47 i think ill be happy.
Also, i dont know what BMW are like for you guys but for me their problem solving has been crap. I had a 320d f30 and the screen kept going off. They had it in 5 times and told me it was my phone but then i changed phone and it still happened. In the end i traded in before they could fix the issue. I think they stalled and their tech know how seems very lacking. Case in point now as they just called me to try to cancel tomorrows booking saying that 20miles on a fuel charge is about right and they will look on the net later today for answers. Surely someone should know. Im a little confused as to the WLTP figures as they are supposed to represent real world driving and on BMW site is says 34-37 which would be fine. Its costs me 1.86 to charge the car at home so thats 9.3p per mile whereas 35mile range would be 5.3p per mile. Considering the fuel cost per mile for this trip driving like miss daisy is 11p per mile (5.62/gallon/51), its hardly worth the bother charging is it! Still a nice car to drive though. |

Hybrid Eco Pro is the best overall really for economy though, although it does dumb a few things down a bit (including throttle response). |
