Dinan M340i Exhaust Teaser

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com

Wanted to share a brief preview snippet of the Dinan exhaust in development for the G20 M340i. Still doing some minor tweaks to design but we are well underway. Enjoy!

Looking forward to this!! Is it true Dinan mods don't void factory warranty? If so that is awesome...

Nothing technically outright voids the factory warranty. That would be in violation of Magnusson Moss. That said, BMW can void parts of the warranty if they deem an aftermarket part has caused the failure. If this happens with a Dinan part we would step in and cover the claim with our factory matching new car warranty (assuming some other caveat was not at play).

Couldn't say. Still in R&D (tweaking a small drone spot). Once that is finalized and quotes for kibbles are returned we can estimate an ETA but even then its a pretty wide guess as vendors can be "difficult" at times. Typically not until everything is in house do we feel comfortable with any kind of ETA.

Power gains will be minimal given that cats are still intact. Best guess would be in the 5-7HP range.

Always. At a bit of a road block the same as everyone else but we have a ridiculous amount of resources (between numerous sister companies) trying to find a work around. Wish we were still around you Barry. Could use the xDrive for some development (our car is RWD)...

Have you seen other tuners were able to do it already? Mission performance , for example.

Well aware. We can do the same thing. The problem is anything updated to the newest I-Level will need to be bench flashed. This is a deal killer for Dinan when most of our sales come through dealerships who automatically update to the newest variant. The result is every time you go to a dealer it would get updated and the tune would be lost. Instead of just reflashing it through OBD2 you would then have to send the DME to get bench flashed again. A completely OBD2 solution that doesn't require the DME to ever be removed is what is required in our model and that doesn't exist (yet).

Congrats to Dinan on what looks to be a very impressive exhaust!!

As for Mission Performance, I just spoke with Alex at MP about this last week - and they are fully capable of flashing over OBD with the latest ilevel

Just passing along what was shared with me :-)

Probably a bit off topic-but once b58 is figured out, any plans for us lowly b48 folks with regards to exhaust/tunes?

To clarify (sorry for responding to thread-jack)

Edit: since I wrote this MP now offers full remote flash services access just like with the 340 B58 etc / no need to send DME in

Tunes yes. Exhausts will take a bit longer as they are farther down the totem pole but still most likely yes.

Beautiful car. Awesome exhaust!
Does it look just as good in person as in the video? Is it lowered?

Car is not lowered yet. Suspension development is going on now among other things.

The Dravit gray looks better in person honestly with its color changing scheme (grey, green, bronze) it actually makes the horrible "bronze" and/or "nickel" accents bearable since in certain light the car gives off those tones as well. On any other color I think those accents would drive me insane and need to be replaced immediately.
