From the Burger Motorsports Facebook:
"Hit the dyno yesterday with Fuel-IT's Z4 for a little R&D. The car is equipped with a JB4 w/ EWG connector, BMS intake, d p, and a Fuel-IT flex fuel sensor. It's also rocking a set of BMS strut braces.

Baseline runs on 91 craptain resulted in a best of 399whp which was fairly impressive. We did a couple pulls on map1 and map2, with reasonable gains at 426whp and 433whp, before deciding to pour in E85 and see what it could really do.

After much experimenting on the dyno including running boost targets of 18psi up to 24psi we determined what worked best was a relatively modest boost target of around 20psi but with higher timing introduced by the JB4's IAT spoofing. Net result was a clean ~490whp/500wtq. We've got a few more tricks up our sleeve to push power over 500whp and then we'll add in our back end flash and see how far we can take it!

But for those who don't want to flash these numbers are not far off what the flash tuners are seeing! Will release v15 B58 firmware soon with map5 setup for the E85 mix Supra/Z4/G20 applications."

Looks like this car really shines with a bit of ethanol in the tank... I know when I had the JB4 on my M3 I loved the fact I could leave it on the same map and it would auto detect the higher ethanol content. No need to plug your computer in at home to switch maps.

How did you remove the plastic part in the firewall of the engine compartment? Also, is the plastic part the thing that helps water to drain away from the wires and stuff or is it the black stuff on the firewall?

Yes that is the hole to pop in to install the old cable. Look at the jb4 video on the previous page that someone posted of my car I talk about it.

Thank you very much! What did you use to pop it out? It feels hard in my car (unlike he rubber grommet in the F3x cars).

Yeah it feels that way, you just need a long flat head, to push it thru firmly but controlled, and then you can save the little black piece to put it back when you remove the JB4 later.

Glad to know is going well.
I am about to pull the trigger on the JB4 finally.

I am just going to run 93 octane (florida) and I have ordered a BMS intake.

Having the extra traction of my XDrive I would like some advice on setting up targets for boost and Gas settings. I don't want to go too crazy on it since just running pump gas. And how much more boost does the standard map that comes with the JB4 gives you?

Might as well run some ethanol and Map 4 or 6 to make the JB4 more worth your while. You can get E85 at some gas stations in FL

Would I need to modify to run E85 on the car? are Map4 and 6 ready to go or need to do adjustments depending if running ethanol or not?

To run pure E85, yes you'd need to modify it. To run an E85 mixture less than say 50%, no you don't need to modify, just need the JB4. Put in 5 gal E85, then 10.6 gal of 93 oct (if tank is empty, otherwise just fill the rest with 93) gives you E35 which is perfect for map 4 or 6. Here's a quote from Terry at BMS over on N54tech regarding the version 15 firmware update:

"Revised map guide, map4 is now absolute 20psi map and map5 absolute 22psi map, especially useful for Supra/M340i applications on E85 mixtures"

I can attest to its... usefulness. I plan to do some dragy runs this weekend to see what my times look like. It's a monster off the line with xDrive.

Hi guys! I have a 2020 M340i and have been looking at the JB4 for a while now.. my concern is that I will not be adding a down pipe or any other bolt ons, but still want get as much out of the JB4 as possible. I’ve read in other threads that using map 5 or 6 w/ E85 mixed can be bad if you don’t also have a down pipe. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
