The M340i isn't available in RWD in Europe.

People need to be clear that U.S. mpg and U.K. mpg are not the same.

Garage List
Or if we are comparing between countries use L/km.

I have a RWD 330i (G20), in Comfort, I'm getting around:

City: 12.5L/100

13,2km/l (7,6l/100km, 31mpg US, 37mpg UK) over 3000km.

My driving style: 50% just pootling about, 40% 'spirited' driving, 10% caning it.

Interestingly *I* think I drive moderately economically on average, but the car gives me a rating of 1/5 for both acceleration and braking. Hmm.

But because I like to put my foot down I'm currently at:
9.2 Litres/100km (25.6 U.S. mpg or 30.7 U.K. mpg)

which is still a bit better than my wife's X3 30i... so I'm pretty impressed.
Did a trip from Ottawa to Kingston, Ontario (about 2 hour drive). Drove very conservatively and got 6.9/100km (34.1 U.S. mpg or 40.1 U.K. mpg).

But I normally drive more aggressively so it is currently at 8.2 Litres/100km (28.7 U.S. mpg or 34.4 U.K. mpg). Still pretty damn good for this engine. Would be much higher if I reset after the Ottawa trip though.

Im sure if I drove at regular speed sit would be better. Plus there are a lot of hills in the area.
Update to myself.

Made a trip Frankfurt and its almost a 2hr drive depending on traffic.

Round trip: 35.4 US MPG (6.6L/100Km)

A couple of traffic spots, my speeds were between 100 and 140 kph. Had a couple of WOT runs just for funs. Max speed was about 190Kph for about a minute, crosswinds were getting frisky and Cruise control deactivated.

If you use the self-driving bits - Personal CoPilot etc - it kills the MPG. Anticipates too late, brakes unnecessarily, accelerates at odd moments. Not complaining about the tech as it's limited in what it can do, but a human driver can be (for the time being) much more economical.

As and when full self-drive is an option, when the other cars on the road *also* have full self-drive and when cars can communicate with each other and the 'smart' road infrastructure, fuel economy will massively improve. To me, investing in this would generate more real world benefit than electric cars.

Another update: This is kind of fun..

4 1/2 hour trip. couple of rest stops. I used Cruise control most of the time and kept the speeds in between 110 and 130. Light traffic and good weather.

Achieved: 39mpg (6L/100km)*

*On the road I had over 40 mpg (5.8L/100km) but I drove a bit in the city with lots of lights so it went down. I had 875km displayed range when i filled up.

Good job on the 6l/100km - not sure I could get that unless it's literally non-stop motorway and I'm disciplined enough to stay under 120. 6/100 also needs decent quality driving and good anticipation; if you're a late braker or lane changer then you'll never hit that

This is true. I was not in a hurry to get there because i left early. I let people pass me and yes, good anticipation to deactivate the cruise control is def important.

But this is as good as it gets on near perfect scenario. Some place like the Netherlands, with its flat and boring speeds , you might be able to do even better.

Haha true on the flat Dutch roads - although it's unlikely you'll be able to drive more than 10km without hitting a traffic jam

I'm driving a Volvo V90 Cross Country this week (rental car) - it's a 2.0L diesel and I'm getting 32mpg (8,8l/100km). It's also an underpowered pig to drive, even though in theory it has similar power to the 330i. Now I'm even happier I went with the Beemer

Are you actually verifying the on-board computer values by brimming the tank and calculating the ACTUAL fuel consumption from full to full, and then measuring how many litres it took to fill back up again?

I do that with all my vehicles, and the BMW 318i is by far the worst. It's consistently over-optimistic with the fuel economy. Most of the time the OBC says I achieved 40mpg, when in reality it was more like 35mpg. EVERY time.

Last fill-up was €89,73, 50,4l to drive 653km. Comes out at 7,71l/100km, OBC said 7,6l/100km. So yes OBC is slightly optimistic but nothing unacceptable - at least not in my car.

My X5 is spot on every time, so it's strange that my 318i would be so wrong.

After 9200 km driving with my 330i I do average on 6,2 l/100 km. On motorways I do manage to average even on 5,2 l/100 km with ACC on 125 km/h.

What does everyone’s expected range show after filling a full tank on the m340i?

Mine shows right around 330 miles, but I swear on the first couple fill ups it showed 380. I’ve only had the car for about 3 weeks.

I apologise guys, I'm new here and I don't have permissions to make a thread yet.

I'm on the cusp of pulling the trigger on a fully loaded 330i X drive 2019 with M Sport Package, Track Handling, M diff.

My concern is the tire size. It is 225 40 R19 with run flats. My concern is the harshness of the ride. I can't find a vehicle with 18s on them. Based on what I've heard it offers a much more smoother ride.

Am I overthinking this? Will the 19s be too rough? I live in Houston where the roads are hit or miss....

When i took delivery of car it last August it showed 380 plus miles, now after 6k plus miles a full tank shows anywhere from 308-328 miles.
