Just wanted to share. This could be a pure fluke.

I had an engine light on (steady light) on my 330i MSport for about a week and came in to the dealer today. The NVLD module failed and they need to replace it. Of course for a brand new model, they don't have it in stock and I have to come in later in the week to get it swapped.

The module detects emission leaks.

Just a little fyi - the Check Engine Light always indicates some emissions related value has gone out of spec. It can be any of a thousand things that causes it. It can be from a one time event and if it is the light will clear itself after five or six operation cycles. Leaving the gas cap off is one example. I once had a little transmission hiccup on a very cold morning and it caused a CEL. The light cleared itself. As in this case with a bad NVLD module in many, if not most, cases the car can be driven without harming the motor. Just a little fyi that a CEL is rarely a reason to panic.

That NVLD part has to come from Germany, as understandably there's no inventory in US yet. ETA is another 3 weeks. Car is fine to drive.
