I might be without a car while waiting for my M340i to be built

So I really wanted aN M340i but got offered such a good deal to stay with my current manufacturer and took it. Sadly now that vehicle is 600 miles in and is probably going to end up a lemon. I have two weeks before that process can begin and have decided to order an M340i because we don't have any on the lots around here....How should I go about doing this.

If I lemon my vehicle I'll be without one and I assume the order process takes 3 months from BMW so would my only option be a long term rental until the order comes in?

Any advice would greatly help.

Why not look outside your area? There are plenty of m340i on lots all around the country. And if you're like me, you may get better pricing looking elsewhere.

Garage List
Depending on the options you select, it likely won't take 3 months. More like 1.5-2 months, but it can definitely vary based on a number of factors.

The only things I can think of are long term rentals. You'll typically get discounted rates for month by month rentals from any of the major rental companies. You could also check Turo for a cheap rental (i.e. Toyota Corolla/Honda Civic) as they often times give steep discounts for longer rentals (up to 30% in some cases).

Another idea - buy a cheap beater car and then sell it once you get delivery of your BMW. It might be a bit of a hassle, but if you play your cards right, that could be your cheapest option (and possibly even be able to break even).

I bought a "used" vehicle from my dealer (2019 VW Tiguan) while my M340i was on order. We agreed on a price that they would buy it back for. Ended up costing me roughly $300/month including the payment on it. Cheaper than any rental would have been, and I got to drive basically a new car for 3 months.

Should take 8ish weeks. Well worth the wait if you can find temporary transit and want a rather rare build selection. The ability to add Port installed Mperformance options is also a bonus.
Another route
Local dealer can search nationwide for what you want as well and do a dealer trade.
