Forged Pistons & Rods for 2019 BMW G20 320i
Hey guys, as the topic says looking for these parts or at least some advice on this. Did a search but not seeing anything on forged parts.
I would like to do BM3 tune but reading too much horror stories with engines blowing with just stage 1 so rather just change the internals for peace of mind and of course have more headroom for power. Are the pistons and rods the same for 330i and 320i B48? Seeing them available online to buy but just need to confirm which one would work in my engine. Is it simply a matter of just changing out the pistons and rods or is it more complicated? First time doing this on a bmw, not sure if its more complicated to other cars. Thank you all for any advice and feedback. |

I forgot to mention I live in the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago so the only options we get here are the 320i and 330i. No M340i available to us.
Also the cost of cars here are ridiculous given the high taxes we pay for car imports. A new 330i m sport basic model costs $80,000 USD at our one and only local BMW dealer. I imported my fully loaded 320i from Japan myself as I always do with all my vehicles. It is actually way cheaper in this country to buy a 320i/330i and build the hell out of it than to buy a stock M340i. If we could import a stock M340i it would cost around $132,000 USD here so this thread is one of the few exceptions where a built 320i is actually pretty cheap for us. Keep the feedback coming guys, thanks! |

my opinion is to stage 2 your car and keep boost under 21 PSI before upgrading internals, unless you are sure on going high boost big turbo.
I prob ran over 200+ WOT pulls on stage 1 and was dallying it on all stock parts with no issue. I don't think you will see any issues with OTS stage 2 as bm3 is fairly well tested and safe based on my knowledge. |

what kind of boost were they running? what octane? e30? what mods? what engine? which map? what did the log say? what kind of damage? pics? links? source? There aren't many blown B48s BMWs based on my knowledge, but there have been some blown minis, and a lot of blown N20s. Last edited by Avaley; 10-27-2020 at 09:53 PM.. |

forged internals? stock internals? cracked piston? damaged rings?
my point being, if you can google blown engine, you can google why/what/where/how did the engine blow and perhaps show us something we can respond to instead of saying "google said so, educate me?" Last edited by Avaley; 10-27-2020 at 09:54 PM.. |
