Retrofit M Sport Differential 330i

Hello.

I’ve bought a m sport differential and I am planning to change the stock open one.

From what I researched this would be possible but I need any advice if you have any.

If anyone did this before pleae share your insights.

From what I can see the GHAS control module is the same on both equipment levels, the wiring from the trunk seems do be the same but the sport diff has a plug. Is the wire hidden somewhere between the trunk and the underbody?

Would codding the VA be enough to enable the diff?

Thank you! I’ll update the post when I am done, diff arrives in couple of days.

I think you will need to modify the fa to match a vehicle equipped with m sport differential

Yeah, that’s right. I found out I didn’t have the GHAS computer. I bought one and I need to install it. There is one plug going directly to the diff and one to the “car”. The plug for the car has 1 positive from fuse box, 1 negative, and 3 wires to the BDC. Still trying to figure out it I need to route them to the BDC in front or there is something in the trunk where I fan plug them in.

The GHAS needs to go to the bdc to be connected to the flexray. Not sure if there is spare flexray port allocations at the rear

Based on the diagram the flexray goes from connector A416*1B (ghas module) to connector A258*8B (bdc module). Would a "spare port" show in the diagram?

You will have to open the ports using tool32 and then reset and relearn the flexray configuration.

So pretty much even if I run the wires from the GHAS connector to the front BDC connector and plug them in the coresponding PINs I still need to enable the ports using tool32?

Thank you, this is very helpful!

Yes. The GHAS needs to be added to the flexray configuration.

Thank you for the answer,
is it possible to delete GHAS in the other direction.
If i like to retrofit a G80 with real diff its not possible to delete GHAS as i know.Is it possible to delete the ports,so that GHAS isnt shown anymore. If you remove GHAS its always shown in ista, don t know why
Do you know a way for this too?

Try deleting it from SVT and see if that fixes the issue.

I am searching for this for long time, i never had a full solution for error free retrofit for G80.
Ghas module is always shown with icom next although its not inside anymore. If you use normal enet its not shown , but with icom next its shown in ista.

So if you have good idea would be very nice
