It does, even with background app refresh turned off.

I use it and then have to force quit it to give my phone a chance to last day and night.

I haven't noticed any battery drain, but I also force close the app after every time I use it.

I stand to be corrected, but if you change the settings to 'only when app open' the background stuff stops running.

Same as every other app. Anything with gps location attached in particular seems to kill the battery.

I'm no expert, and as I said, stand ready to be corrected.

I tried this when I first noticed the battery being hogged and switched to “only when using the app” in the privacy menu of the phone but whenever I checked the battery status the connected app would say 4 minutes on screen use and 1 hour + background use. So it seemed even tho I had background app refresh turned off and gps set to “While using the app” it still drained the battery in the background so as mentioned before, I just force quit after each use.

I wanted the connected app to be amazing while waiting for my car to arrive but alas, it’s not lived up to the quality and standards of the actual car and surprised BMW don’t do anything about it.
