M340i OEM spolier coming loose
I took delivery of my M340i March 10, 2020, a few days later I notice the trunk spoiler was coming off from one of the sides. After a 3 day stop at the dealer they took it off and put a new one. Apparently the original was “defective” and they had to order a new one. It has been over a month and I just notice the same thing happening again. Have any other G20 owner have experienced this issue?

First time seeing this issue...I would bring it right back to them. It's not hard to get even a poor fitting aftermarket spoiler to stick let alone an OEM one.

While you wouldn't expect this to happen at a dealer, I would think they are thoroughly removing any residue from the old spoiler before installing the replacement. It's worth checking in case that's causing the new one to not adhere properly.

Why would they order a new spoiler when your problem is the adhisive.
I have added many M spoilers and never had an issue. The problem is not with the spoiler, it is with the prep work the dealer is not doing with the install. In that particular case, I wouldn't of even bothered with the dealer and fixed the issue myself by using red 3M heavy duty type after properly prepping both the spoiler and the trunk surfaces.

Did they actually remove the old one though? I feel like they just sprayed down the loose part with some adhesive and called it a day. You can't trust dealerships to do work like that properly. Just keep taking it back until they get it right. I really doubt that this is a common problem.

My helpful addition is to ask you if this is a sign that you should replace it with an aftermarket M Performance style spoiler? I mean, if you have to take it off and strip the adhesive and prep the surface....
You’re welcome! |

I'm currently waiting on my third visit to go back and have this issue fixed. I've gone back twice already and now waiting for another spoiler to arrive...very disappointing and a waste of time...maybe they'll lemon it

That would be so stupid if they lemon it. Any decent body shop could get that perfect in any hour.

I've seen people try for less than a spoiler! Lol

I'd give it one more shot with them, and if they fail, as said, DIY with some proper high quality 3M mount tape, custom tailored and contoured by you. Sometimes the "pro's" aren't really as good as we think.
