Bimmercode coding "shift lights"

Thank you for you help Wet Fish!

I pointed him in the right direction for the error on HU_MGU.

So far i could compare his DKOMBI4 coding to mine there are many different values...
I highlighted some values that could do the trick and i´ll check the values one by one tomorrow.
Maybe PSdZData contains some more information and i can clear some values that are clearly not related to the shift lights.

When the m track module was installed the guy did a load of things (he remotely accessed my laptop). Lots wasn’t in English, so not sure exactly what he did.

But, in answer to your question about orange or red. I noticed mine are now red. They were orange before he did all his coding stuff.

What car is shown in your Headunit and Kombi, your car or a M3/M4?

Do you remember if there was a window with "TAL processing"?
You need to choose some files that were created before.
Then theres a big table with all ECUs with multiple rows that can be enabled or disabled.
e.g. blFlash, swDeploy, cdDeploy, ibaDeploy

My car is still shown in the head unit (well, apart from the alloys are always wrong). I noticed that my bar graphs for hp and torque are now horizontal and not vertical like they were. Not sure if that helps.

I don’t remember much TBH. He wasn’t communicative whilst he was doing stuff, and I was mostly bricking it because it looked like it could mess something up. I vaguely recall him saying “the flash” was complete.

Looking at the stuff he asked me to install on my laptop, it includes E-sys and KCAN-PRO but that was it.

As for the choosing files, I’m really not clear on how you want me to do that. Is that something in E-sys? Again, I’m more than happy to help you guys out, but I’ll need instructions as I have no idea what I’m doing with E-sys.

He did also make download a file named 11_530_DTJ_DATA-001. I can’t unzip though as I don’t have the password.

Found out how to unlock it. There’s also a Mapping.exe in there and then a copy of the other stuff I mentioned.

Oh no that wasn´t something you can do.
That´s just part of flashing an ECU and when you recall him saying something around "flash complete" it´s a hint in this direction.

That could be some premade TAL file that will do the flash.
Have you check the recycle bin for the files from that zip file?
Judging by the size it´s a archive for E-Sys, PSdZData and some more.

To have the M Menu in the MGU, there is basically only one difference in the SWFKs.

For example:
SWFK_000056AA = HMI BMW
SWFK_000056AE = HMI M

If HMI_M SWFK is flashed, you need to change in CAFD 3E52, HMI_BRAND to BMW_M. Otherwise it won't boot the HU.

You can already find the comparison between his DKOMBI4/HU_MGU and mine in this thread.
The file doesn´t contain anything interesting other than a Mapping.exe file that gets flagged as a trojan.

I did some tests today and i wasn´t 100% successful.
I only used some of the parameters from the comparison.
One thing i could achieve are the shift lights in HUD.
My car didn´t had them from factory and now i´ve got the normal shift lights in the top of my HUD.

Now what i didn´t achieved are the shift lights in the Kombi.
Neither the ones on the left/right or the G80 ones in the top area.
I found some information about this and that the shift lights are either shown in the HUD OR the Kombi, but not both.
I´ll try to disable the sports view in HUD and try it again.
See attached image.

The G80 shift lights will only work with M software on the HU_MGU.
I´m not sure about every downside so i wont try that for now.

Another warning, i got a CEL after coding some of the values. It was a warning that the DME and DKOMBI4 couldn´t communicate.
The CEL was gone after a restart and i could clear the DTCs.
Just that you´re aware about this!

I didn´t code with Bimmercode but it should be no problem to code the two values mentioned above with Bimmercode in expert mode.

Code:

CB_SHIFTLIGHTS => aktiv
HMI_SHIFTLIGHTS_HUD_ENABLE => aktiv
HMI_SHIFTLIGHTS_KOMBI_ENABLE => aktiv
PIA_SHIFTLIGHTS => aktiv

Please note, you can have them either in the Kombi OR in the HUD, not both.

G80 shift lights are not codeable with Bimmercode.
