More cost cutting 2024 models?

Looking at videos of the new 2024 G20's it seems like there is more cost cutting happening on these newer cars compared to the 2023's.

In this video:

Timestamp: 1:26 - We see a slightly revised headlight design, gone are the little LED strips at the bottom, replace by triangular chrome accents.

Timestap: 4:21 - Looks like the metal seat adjustment sliders are now just black plastic with white accents.

Timestamp: 5:49 - No more stiched leather airbag cover, now looks like injection molded plastic

That's all that I could catch, granted this is Canadian spec car so not sure if these changes are in US spec ones as well. But somewhat sad to see.

'24 also doesn't get the storage netting behind the passenger and driver seats.

The stitched leather airbag looks so much nicer. Would be a bummer if they all switched to this type.

The headlight design is different as these are not the matrix lights that are part of the visibility pack.

In the UK this part of the extended storage package - so looks like it’s still available over here.

The US doesn't get them now. Apparently we don't need to store things over here anymore according to BMW so they could save $1 instead of fitting them on $60k plus cars.

I have a '24 on order and it states red calipers in the options list. So at least in the US they're still available in red.

Red calipers in Canada are part of the Shadowline Package or you can also pick it individually.

In the US config even selecting Shadowline still has blue brakes

From what I can gather it’s only the 2 and 3 series. 4 series and X3+ still have stitched cover…

For what it's worth, in the My BMW app, it still shows the stitched leather airbag in the interior preview photos of my 3 series. Praying that it comes as shown.

Unfortunately confirmed this with my CA - 2024 g20's will not come with the leather-stitched airbags. Saw a 2024 m340i at the dealer, didn't look as bad in person vs the photos but definitely a big downgrade from leather.

Anyone know if the cargo netting behind the seats can be retrofitted?

They are all non-stitched (aside from M models). Looks cheap af...perhaps the stitched cover is something you can swap from a prior model year.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. I see some OEM airbags for sale for $600. Not sure if it's worth it just for the stitched airbag.

It would be to me for sure...that's not a bad price.

Gotta save somewhere, every manufacturer is lighting money on fire with electric car development. None of these seem really egregious though. If they were going to change anything on the steering wheel it should be making it thinner. On cost cutting there has been criticism of some of the 5 series interior materials, so it’s creeping into the higher end BMW products as well.

Keep the stitched airbag cover and ditch the kick to open trunk (pointless in a sedan in my opinion).

I have a my2024 M340i. I do wish i had the stitched airbag but for what it’s worth, I actually use the kick to open trunk feature all the time and love it. Didn’t think I would need it either but am very happy to have it.

Wish I had puddle lights too…but at the end of the day I bought this for that B58 and G20 chassis. Brings a smile to my face every time I get behind the wheel.

I don't think the plastic airbag cover looks too bad. When most of the dash is plastic already it doesn't look out of place to me.

The interesting question is whether the stiched leather version comes with the sensatec stitched dash? It would have to be included with the full leather dash I would think.

It does not. I have the sensatec stitched dash optioned on my 2024 m340 and CA still confirmed it would be a plastic airbag cover.

Interesting to hear about the headlight changes in the OP, if I am understanding correctly the 23's have an LED strip along the bottom which were replaced by triangle chrome accents? Anyone know if this impacts the functionality or its purely aesthetic?
