MST vs. BMS Intake
I'm new to engine/exhaust mods and hoping to better understand the main performance differences between MST & BMS Intakes.
Car is stock, 2020 M340i Potentially adding a Bootmod3 next year Main objective- enhance the turbo sound Aesthetics not a priority At nearly 2x the price, should I expect a different note, or greater throttle response / power gain from the MST? x-ph.com claims peak gains from the MST are roughly 15-20 Horsepower and Torque... Vivid Racing claims the BMS unlocks up to 8whp. Are these numbers aspirational for an otherwise stock M340i? Appreciate any insight! All the intakes add around the same power, which is 5-10whp, at higher boost levels. They all sound about the same too. On stock tuning don't expect much power gain with any intake as it's not a restriction at stock boost levels.

Basically doing it for the sound improvement on a stock model, which isn't a terrible thing (it does sound nice), just wouldn't expect any performance gains. |

Hi,
We do not make any claims on either product, we post what the manufacturer claim Both are good intakes, i estimate they make the same power as well

the way i always viewed intakes is that that they are glorified air filters lol
other than that you are paying for the brand and the look like carbon fiber etc.. to each its own tho its all preference too if you are popping your hood alot

My F30 328i has an MST intake. Great whooshing noises, but I can't feel any power gains. Gains will come from catless dp, piggy back and eco tune.

the intake puts out an additional 5-10 HP, most people won't even feel the difference. If you do a before and after dyno, the gains are there especially after 4500 RPM
