How long until they won’t know? Surely there is a limit to the logs

If you dme was femto unlocked, they will know the instant they plug into the ecu that it has been tampered with. Not sure how it works with bench unlocks though.

It's not based on logs they will know, but the contents of the ecu. You can drive 100k miles and they will still know this car has been tuned.

Some ecu have flash counter that you can't reset. That is another parameter they might look at. Pretty much they will always know at this point.

Your BMW has something called FASTA data that will be written in a sector of the ECUs where we don´t have access to.
This data will be downloaded everytime your car gets connected to ISTA at the dealer and then sent to BMW North America.
You can´t delete this data...

Even when you´re able to find a way around the tuning detection, BMW North America will know it and deny any warranty claims for your engine and near components.

The time of flash counters and other easy methods is over.
BMW can also see if you used a plug-in tune like JB4.
The car is logging a lot of values and once they´re over a threshold a message will be stored in the FASTA data.

I don´t really care because the B58 is very reliable and any problem from the factory would´ve already damaged the engine.
Just don´t go over the top with a tune and stay around the safe limits depending on your hardware mods.
BMW will still do the regular maintenance and even carry on with service inclusive packages.

Yes, the second they plug in they get a flag for possibly tuned DME. And there goes your warranty.
