I love how you decided to jump in on this convo to give us your thought out two cents. Stop acting like a punk and open your mind a bit, "bro". If you can't contribute something worthwhile and provide an effective argument don't bother replying.
Ummm so we’re all clear, which comparable vehicles do you think are better at $70k??

I will say this - M340i (my M340 is tanzanite blue on cognac leather and open pore wood trim) is one hell of a good car to live with.
For reference I have an M3 and I also have F30 diesel with M sport pack and neither of these cars are a "good investment".

That being said, the more expensive initial value of the car is, the faster it drops. 3 series tend to retain more of the value because people like them and there is a bigger market for them.
My fully optioned, custom ordered M340 had a sticker price of $66.5k and I received $8.5k worth of discounts from my dealer bringing price to 58k and that is the price I'm comfortable with. Keep in mind I have every option other than remote start.

I've looked into C43 and C63 before buying M340, I took the both Mercedes cars for extended test drives as well. The reason why I went with M340 is because it's that much better of a car to live with on daily basis. It's comfortable when you need it, it's fast, the build quality is worlds apart from the F generation cars. And it is "tunable". Try find a reliable tune for other vehicles in its class.

I use autonomous driving and traffic assistant plus almost every day on my 80mile/day commute in Cali traffic. I love the sound system, heads up display, and all the tech that it comes with. It's a fantastic car and it doesn't feel like a 3 series - it feels premium and luxury.

Agree with others... have a set of skinny blizzaks on a cheap set of wheels and you'll be golden. Best of both worlds.

X4M40i would be great if you want that hatch utility, but the car will let you whip it around and be a little more fun.

I've had a lot of BMW's but the X1 28i I had was a lot of fun because of the size, weight and utility. A 40i version of that would be just great.

According to who? You? Just took my 2015 2 series for an inspection and @ 75K miles no issues. I know 5 years isn't that long but I feel I could drive the car for another 30K miles if I wanted to.

My experience is BMWs are very reliable when they're new and under the factory warranty and maintenance coverage.

But after that coverage expires and the vehicle ages, they can be expensive to maintain whether for repairs or maintenance items.

FWIW, the owner of the reputable independent BWM repair shop where I take my cars after the factory coverage expires advises not to keep a newer BMW after that unless you buy an extended warranty. And he advises buying the BMW extended warranty, not a third party one.

Lease, enjoy, return, repeat.

At lease end the car is worth 62%. So on a 65k car you need to come up with about 40K to purchase. You could buy TWO more 3 year leases for that money.

So by now your original car would be NINE years old and assuming 15k miles a year have 135 thousand miles on it. It would be worth just about nothing.

Get three fresh cars, all new, all under warranty, all with new tires, brakes, etc.

Only way to go.
