Would the G20 look good with body colored grilles?

Does anyone have any free time and the skill to be able to see what a body colored grille surround would look like for the G20? I'd want to keep the slats gloss black (or matte black).

I'll preface this by saying that I've never liked any BMW modified with body colored grilles. However, I had a chance to really take a good look at some G20s and I feel that the black M Performance grille makes the center of the car look off. There's just too much black. I actually prefer the chrome grille overall, unlike the F30 where I think the black grille looks better.

It got me thinking that perhaps going with a body colored grille might actually look interesting for the G20. On previous 3 series, I always thought body colored grilles made them look too small. Now since the G20 grille is so large, perhaps it would look better? I'm having a hard time visualizing it though.

I think so

Take this with a grain of salt as I am not the world's greatest photoshopper. I did this shortly before the 330i came out and thought it was worth investigating, especially on lighter colors. Mineral Grey in this example, black grills with body color frames. IND if you're listening...

Well in that color, it looks pretty good. Thanks for the effort.

Actually a great setup! Wouldn't mind having that option.

Do you mean the chrome grill surround? Then yes.
or do you the actual grill itself? Then no.

Similar thinking. I've concluded the chrome surround is too thick. Also the fact the grilles blend into the light units make the proportions wrong.

The mineral grey example looks so much better proportioned with colored surrounds, to my eyes, than all-black grilles.

I've quickly colored the chrome surrounds on white and blue examples and feel the colored surrounds work on the bigger grilles.

All black grilles don't work on all the colors of the G30, (IMO), same may apply.

Body colored grille surround is something I'll seriously look at, if I move on to a G21 or G31.

Just the surround, in my view. No way would I want all black, or all body colored.

I wish I could get gloss black surrounds with the black chrome slats like on my F06. It matches the shadowline trim while giving the grill some character and contrast still

Just the surround. The actual slats could actually be gloss black. I think that would give a setup close to an F30 with the M Perf grille.
