I don’t see why the current 3 Series has the ‘small grill’ and the next M3 will have the ‘big’ ones ... ??

I’m not talking about the M4, which is the standard reflection of the Concept 4
It’s actually the opposite. The last two generations (E90 and F80) of 4-door M3/4 shared the front end with the 2-door 3/4-series. It seems like the G80 M3 is simply continuing this trend.

Wow good catch. I would call this design confirmed. Soak it in people.

I like the orange render earlier in the thread better.

No doubt that the render showing the front is based on the leaked front end picture of the grey car on the production line. However the render in this thread is terribly distorted creating a fugly bulbous/rounded car where all dimensions are off. The leaked picture show a much tighter and attractive design.

Not to mention it also comes in a superior body style, and stunning paint options like Alpina's Green and Blue paints.

As I said previously what they say: The need to distance M cars is very much a global decision. The M customer explains that there is not much variation. The M3/M4 and even M2 are the "wild cards"
They are more volume therefore they can still offer taboo features like a manual transmission. When the competition cannot.

It heralds an all new outlook to BMW M. Engineering,Performance and Design.
Enough with the nonsense about China. Especially when the US remains the largest M market.
I can sympathise in regards to the appearance. But I know that time will be its greatest ally and some of the detractors will come to eventually love it.
To answer your question I am indifferent. I just wanted a (manual transmission) on a model with 4-doors, so I am excited.

As to the looks, it comes down to a dark color vs white, dark for hiding the change, if too stark, or white, if the change is more subtle in the flesh.

Pretty sure when this car is out in production everyone will change there mind. It takes time to get used to something new like this. I know I will like it when I see all the reviews on it. However I'm still keep my F80..

Sell them to BMW. They will place them on the new 4 series.

Definitely could be worse. Remove the front license plate, and I think it looks much better. I know I'm in the minority, but I kind of like it. I'll reserve judgement until I see it person.

That's my re-render of the front of Auto Bild's render giving it a more traditional lower M bumper.

I'm waiting for a call from Ind to get this into production. I'm showing the frameless here because it will be easier to produce. I guy can dream, right?

I would agree with you IF the render came from someone else, but given the source...

Maybe guys will ditch the M3 bumper and retrofit a standard 3 Series M bumper. I agree it looks better.

Since the renders obviously is based on the details seen in the leaks the design elements are likely extremely close. It’s the dimensions and and geometry I’m highly skeptical to since in comparison to the leaked front the render suffers from the distortion you get from a wide angle lens bending angular lines to a rounded shape. You ever seen a face looking good in a wide angle close up photo

Just like when the G20 came out, that forum was overflowing with people mocking the tail lights and saying the car looks like a Lexus in every thread. Now that forum just has G20 owners and the detractors have cleared out.

The same will happen in this forum.

There will be plenty of buyers.

Geez, It's not even April yet. This is by far the worst render so far. I thought my wife's cla 45 looked goofy until I saw this shit. I honestly think the m340i looks sexier than this! I think a c63 may be in my future. BMW I'm on my 5th car of yours, you just lost a loyal customer! I was really looking forward to the new m3 even after hearing the new model will not have a dual clutch and the rumers of the rediculous grill. Honestly I never believed they would ship a car with a suv sized grill now I'm beginning to loose hope.

Unfortunately, I think F80 and F32 resale values will plummit after this very new and modern design.

Beside that vomit grill, it has weird design, weird angles...

Is neither smooth and curvaceous, neither all geometrical. Just a blend of weird design with no proper definition of where it wants to go.

Smooth lined headlamps, smooth wavy hood lines, and oval door handle crevices' inserted in a body with sharp aggressive lines and angular front bumper and sharp narrow taillights...

If I will be the design chief of this car I will be ashamed of it.
