Dealership sales dept closed / Can’t pick-up new car!

Anyone in the same boat because of COVID-19? Apparently BMW has a selectively closed down at sales departments making inception impossible. Was hoping to turn in my current lease today, with a different manufacturer/company, but it looks like I’m going to have to extend it another month unfortunately.

Lots of people are in similar positions. Are you working from home? Turn in the car and take a break from payments until things open back up

Yeah but then I’d be without a car.

The dealerships are open for service by appointment only. Wondering why not the same for sales.

Few dealerships are often across the country depending on the severity of the situation. Some are open with limited hours, whereas others are still open stating they are essential businesses (Let's be honest they are kind of not).

I understand your frustration, and I hope you get it soon but the dealership has to extend your lease for sure. Some people are not even getting paid for the cars, so I am sure they would be fine extending as much as needed in circumstances like this. They just extended my father-in-law 's for an additional 3 months on top of the original 6 month extension.

I would NOT recommend leaving a car unattended at the Service Center given the current circumstances. When the mass riots start and martial law is declared you would want that car as close as possible.

But yea just wait for all this to blow over.

well then they'd have to pay the sales staff... and leave the showroom open.

I know here in LA beverly hills bmw has touchnless delivery if you really want a car right now. But I haven't seen anything from the dealership I bought my car from, I would guess most of those sales guys arent' being paid at all at a lot of dealers.

I tracked my car for two months, only for my dealer to close two days before my car arrived. I can look at it, but I can't buy it or drive it!

I really want my car, but I am happy to wait until people are safe and healthy.

My car will arrive in NJ in a few days with its final destination being PA like you. I am itching to drive but nothing is more valuable than human life.

For all we know, we might not get it for a couple more months..

The dealers in my area sent out emails stating they'd still honor the deliveries with some kind of an apt only service I believe

If you extending for another month, do you have to pay to renew the license for another year? (assuming you lease ends the same time as your license registration)

You don't have to.

1. You can risk it
2. Go to DMV (not sure if they are open) and get a 30 permit
3. Have the dealership issue you a temp tag

In the past, I went with option 1 and never got in any trouble. It is usually the parking police that will get you 1st before you actually get pulled over for expired tags.

Cost of doing anything in Seattle. My tabs are no different on the 340 as well. This city just sucks along with our roads as well as people who don't know how to drive on them

My new car arrived at the dealer but I rather wait till everything calms down because New York is kind of a hotspot. I really want to pick it up but patience.... since everything is closed anyway.

My sales guy in UT delivered the new car and picked up my lease return at my home. We signed a lot of the papers online and then did a few more "official signatures" in person. Quick, easy and very safe!
Great service!
