He's clearly not saying that it will only look good in black. He's saying in black it looks extra good.

Scott when will we see the final production version?

This is just a terrible business model.

I am not going to spend $75,000+ on a car I and most of my friends think is hideously repulsive.
Oh but we dont need to speculate, 66% of enthusiasts dislike it

This is missing the hood indentations at the nostrils we're all for the most part expecting to differentiate the M from its counterparts ( along with other visual changes )

That's the case! There are hoodlines who are actually looking good. Take any recent Lambo or the Giulia qv. There it's part of the hood design. But it isn't in BMW's case as in the past the hood design was the same, just without the hood line.

Take a look at the past M3 generations - hood design was always the same, the outline ending in the middle of the headlights, with some small cuts on the kidney's height (e46 was different though). It would have also been possible with the F generation, but yeah... it does just look soooo much cleaner without! And the fact that the hood goes upwards on the G80/82, it makes things even worse. @SCOTT26 Could you please clarify?
... I've head for the 3-4 series its a calculated cost savings endevour for production. It's been floated that it "saves the customer" by causing less damage to the hood itself in slower impact... I've wondered as this is the highest production number car line in the BMW lineup that it might be a case the the "cost of ownership" drops perhaps on average across there lineup if there are statistically less hood damage incidents in this collective of cars... I'm skeptical, I feel its a production savings building the "nose" elsewhere and meeting the rest of the finished car later in production.... not even painted the same time... in many cars ( many brands ) you can see colour differences in the font fascia and rest of car with a trained eye

Oh, and nicely done!! skills I don't even understand much less have myself lol. I wouldn't know where to start if you didn't use "Paint" for this.
Thanks for adding unnecessary sarcasm to the thread. If you're going to be a jerk, you could at least be funny, clever, or add something of some value to someone.
Umm.. I wasn't being sarcastic, you d'bag. I was giving a compliment to the OP. I'm not going to try and explain it to you, though.

It's been confirmed that the hood will have those two grill opening matching indentations at the hood line

The one on the right. F80 is a good looking car, but you cannot stand in the way of progress.

Like what I'm seeing here a lot. Final will only look better than this when released by BMW I have to assume which is a great outcome but even if this is what transpires I will be happy with it assuming performance is also good. I'm on board

For me personally this is a perfect illustration of how overdue this major design change really is. The car on the left is bland and uninteresting today. It looks like any other BMW on the road the last decade and showcase the past. The one on the right is fresh and interesting, something worthy to represent BMW the next decade.

I agree. Seeing them next to each other- the one on the right looks new, different, and aggressive. My 440i lease is up in 9 months, and I'm looking forward to seeing the M440i introduction.

I partially agree, the car on the left looks a bit bland and like something we've already seen for many years now. The car on the right looks new and different. But, and that's the most important question at the end of the day, does it look good/better, too? I'm still not sure about that.

I'm with you ... progress is rarely all good, especially since so much is subjective here. I agree the one on the left suddenly looks old, but still not on board with the grill masters on the right ...
