I rarely see a petrol, turbo cars here since Italy taxes based on output and CC's. An actual ///M car here is more rare than a Ferrari or Maserati.
Here in the UK many of the BMW models now only come with AT. All the bigger diesel outputs dropped MT a few years back. Plus most of the 6-cylinder petrol models. Something as common as the 3.0d (330/430d, etc.) has been AT throughout the F3x builds. E9x 3.0d models were the last to have MT and AT available.

Now we are in a period where many models, diesel and petrol, are only available with xDrive and AT.

Ugh, it just makes me sad. Not to mention the emissions regulations that are coming from Sweden, Denmark and I think Norway? I remember in a training I went to about two months ago for BMW, I wish I had gotten the citation, but apparently the production of new combustion engines is going to be outlawed, or something to that effect in those countries, I think starting around the 2030 year. Just sucks all the way around for those of us who like to have a connected feel to our drive.

Wasn't this the case with the E60 M5 as well? Everywhere except the US.

I'm just not sure how to hold off until then. I'm already extending my current lease a couple months, and I would hate to get stuck in something for 3 years that I'm not wild about.

Technology is just moving quickly. I just pray they don't start phasing the manuals out in the M Cars completely, that will be a very very sad day.
Yes, but I bet it will happen, it may survive on a CS version of M3 or M4, for a while.

Is it solid and confirmed there will be no manual G22 4 Series Coupe?

There is no evidence that BMW intends to mate a manual transmission to any B58TU (neither the M1 nor O1) nor any B48TU above the M1 (neither the O1 nor T1) anywhere, ever. This rules out US manual transmission models since we will not get the B48 M1 (used in *20i models) in any BMW brand product sold here.

There is still a chance that the S58 will be mated to a manual transmission in some M2, M3 and/or M4 models. However, at this point, even that is not guaranteed.
