Thanks! Interestingly enough, the app has a different version to what the vehicle says it's on. App had 07/2020.54, vehicle has 03/2022.65

Yeah the app updated this week. Usually when they do that, a few things are inaccurate. My version in car vs what the app is saying are completely off by a year

Sorry if I'm being blind but where in the App does it tell you the software version?

Have a look for an update, I have just checked on my iPhone and there is a new update today which shows the above
The version shown now is the same as above, 07/2020.54 but the car has a November 21 (11/2021.40) version the dealer did for me as my cat had not been updated since day one... same for the map update but a call to connected drive fixed those and they now update.. BMW show the latest as 07/21 https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/topics/owne...e-upgrade.html Mine was on the same as above and never updated by itself.. hopefully dealer has fixed that and it will when it eventually finds one Last edited by stuarttunstall; 07-15-2022 at 08:56 AM.. |

My Android app got updated and now shows the software version in the car.
Except it gets it wrong. I was sitting in my car looking at iDrive and the phone app, both saying different things. Dunno who is responsible for software QA at BMW, but I think they need to go on a course or something… |

I have just been talking to connected drive... BMW say my car is on 07/2020 version of the software which is why the MyBMW app states this ...
The car in iDrive is actually on 11/2021.40 because the dealer updated it in December during a service as I requested because it was stuck on 07/2020.54 ! Waiting for a reply back now ... I sent them a picture showing what the car is actually on... seems the car and BMW do not talk to each other lol Will let you know if I fix it.. |

Sorry to hijack the thread, but had a behaviour change since last night and the only thing that has changed since has been updating the iPhone app.
So only had the car a few weeks and still getting used to the less obvious 'car is on' or 'car is off' status. But whenever I would open the driver door, CarPlay would always stop playing and disconnect. Which felt kind of reassuring. Ever since last night though, after switching the ignition off, putting it in park, opening the driver side door, CarPlay will stay on and music will continue playing. Which feels kinda weird. Obviously I'm stuck in my old ways and untrustworthy so I'm now holding down the volume button to switch the screen off. Anyone else seen that? Surely updating the app on the iPhone can't have changed that behaviour on the car, and I'm almost certain the car hasn't had an update go through in the last 24 hours. Anyone else? |

I am still trying to get to the bottom of why BMW and the MYBMW app think the car is on an earlier software version than it is.. car is on 11/2021.40 and both BMW and the APP think its on 07/2020.54 and needs an update!
Sent them a picture as they did not believe me.. |

Your FASTA data needs updating on the BMW backend.
This should be done automatically as soon as a full vehicle test is done in ISTA+. Any dealer should be able to do it , or anyone with AOS access local to you |

Can anyone shed light on the stuff I'm reading that an OTA update ruins the exhaust sound? See plenty of info but all related to cars in USA.
Currently on the hunt for an M340i and wondering whether I should be checking the current software in cars I view. Thanks. |

Can anyone share the release notes of 07/2022.41 I went to the dealer for some problems and they installed that version. Mine is a 2019 300i. What can I expect of newer software

There's absolutely no evidence for it other than people's misconceptions - I imagine it relates to confirmation bias. There are however reports that later MY cars have less prominent exhaust sound compared to some of the earlier MY cars. For the UK, anything 2020 or before has more pops and burbles on the overrun Vs 2021+.

BMW suspect that the update was done incorrectly by the dealer which I find hard to believe This is what BMW say:- Good afternoon Stuart Many thanks for your response and continued patience in this matter. I've now had a response from the technical support team and they have advised that the software has not been updated/installed in your BMW 320d correctly. The software may be showing as up to date in your vehicle's iDrive, but this has not be installed correctly which is why the My BMW App is showing the software version differently. I'd suggest contacting your preferred BMW Center to get this issue looked into further - click here to find the contact details for your preferred BMW Center. I realise this may not be the response you're looking for but I hope it's clarified the situation I hope this is helpful and if there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know. The dealer seems to think it is possible the update did not install right ... his reply, interesting bit about whole car and head unit! Hi Stuart, The car will be sorted when we fully update the cars software (not just the head unit). I have every confidence that this will resolve the issue going forwards. Thanks in advance Tony Stu |
