Not sure but article says that it will copy the i4 with iDrive 8. You can zoom in on the below link

I mean they already have a dash for it from the i4, would be madness to make a 3rd version of it. plus OS8 has all these things "in built", so the buttons are redundant, in a way

Personally, I quite like the idea of more "buttons" being replaced by touchscreen icons, but that implementation of it just looks terrible. imo.
Looks like screen has been stuck to the dash as a big after-thought.
