330e sulphur smell at standstill
No - not looking for a punchline but has anyone noticed a sulphur type smell when coming to standstill?
I've had it a few times and had it again today. Coming off M6 running on ICE then into electric again (total 20 miles at this point 6 electric) pulled up at lights 1 mile from motorway and distinct but not intense sulphur smell at standstill. Could be someone else's catalyst I guess but had the same happen few times even when no other cars in front/around. |

I had a problem with auxiliary batteries in a van years ago, they were overcharging and caused an awful smell. If it persists get it booked in in case your batteries are playing up (or the charger)

I have noticed similar as well. I used to get the same thing on my previous Giulia for the first few months - it was widely debated in those forums and we all found it went away after a while. So - surprised, but not alarmed with the same with the BMW. Would be interested to know though if your dealer discovers anything.

Guys, did anyone find out what this was? I've got exactly the same problem. Sulphur/ rotten egg smell. Mine is more apparent on starting the car up. Only running on electric, so don't think it is the CAT.
I've opened up the washer fluid cap, and that stinks in there. But I don't really understand if it is something to do with that, why it would smell if not using the washers. I think it might be a drainage issue somewhere... Really hoping it's nothing to do with the battery!!!! Very much appreciated if anyone can give me any info of what the dealers said. Thanks. |

Deal with large battery systems with work. The sulphur/rotten egg smell is usually a very very deficient battery. A faulty battery will smell like this in discharge. Probably wise to get it checked out.

Hi - May be of use, I had the same on my old E90 10 plate - worried about cat, battery, etc, often came when car idle, on stop/start or when turned off.
After full investigation it turned out to be supermarket fuel doing it - I swapped to premium fuel or filled up at shell and never had an issue again! May be worth a shot? |
