Angry 320d recall - Not a good start to joining the BMW world

Having spent a few weeks trying to track down a 2019 320d M Sport Plus with tech pack in white or blue, I was most chuffed to find one of each on the same day. I decided to go for the blue, put a deposit down with the dealership who were keen to get it on their books before the month end. I was all ready to collect the car in a couple of days time.

Then I was informed that the car has a recall stop notice on it so the dealership can't release the car. I thought I would check on the white one I had seen and that is exactly the same.

The biggest disappointment about this situation is that BMW can't provide the detail of the remedial work require or a timescale to fix the problem. Is this normal for BMW should I go back to having a VW ?

Thats a bit strange, just checked on the BMW site the other day and no active recalls for my sport model - maybe just a few affected. best of luck with your hunt.

I think it's related to the adaptive suspension or steering.
I'll stick the wait out for a while and hopefully next week BMW may decide what needs to be done.

Is this the tie rod recall if so I too am affected & to be honest I'm quite surprised they have not given you a timescale as they do have remedy as far as I know.

My neighbour has a 320d. The windows have stopped working. Cannot use buttons to open or close. Sounds like too many software bugs to me.

Yes it is normal practice.
VW. Meh.

I had the same. Tie rod recall when I was due to collect. Finally picked it up last week.
Now my Harmon and Kardon sound system has failed. Disappointed.

Collected mine on Sat following the recall work. Have to say well worth the wait.

Had an Oh Sh** moment when driving back from the dealers when a stone managed to get caught in the brake caliper and squealed like the wheel was about to fall off.

Took until today to get Spotify working at the same time as Car Play and everything else on i drive.

All sorted now.

Very happy with my purchase.

What was the recall for? Haven't heard anything about my car. Perhaps only certain cars as I've had mine for over a year already.

You can check for any recalls on your vehicle here......

https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

Just put in your reg. no. and all will be revealed.

Mine over a year old and recall for track rod ends replacement. Going in next week when it's out of the body shop!

In for the tie rod recall last week. Also moisture in headlamp which was replaced under warranty and still suffering from the intermittent loss of bass on my HK sound system which has again lost all bass tonight.

Hoping the bass returns when I power up the car tomorrow. Happened on 3 occasions in 3 months since owning the car.

Not a great start.

It’s the tie rod recall - nothin to worry about. Mine was in last week for it.

Also note that it’s worth asking them to remove the rear acoustic seal at the same time to avoid the dreaded rear end rattle.

Nice choice of car. Mines a 2019 320d M+ Kit with Tech/Comfort. A lot of car for the money, and managed to get 75+mpg driving on the motorway on a 200 mile round trip last month!

I haven't got anywhere near that, most I have had is around 56mpg and that's using eco with the adaptive cruise control and steering doing most of the journey for me.

Mines not to different from yours!

Do you have a dashcam fitted at all that is possibly hard wired into a media fuse? I had same problem with my F22 and it ended up being the dashcam that was sending it funny

No dash cam fitted. Issue has not returned in the last 2 weeks, but as I say, it is very intermittent. Occurs about once a month and rectifies after powering down the car and rebooting.

Lovely car. Think the mineral white really sets it off. Wish I could have afforded the laser lights haha - only thing I miss not having, but alas a budget is a budget!

To get the 70+ MPG I’ve found you need to be motorway driving, and sticking to 57-60mph. Anything over 65mph and MPG really starts to drop off. I also use Costco Premium Diesel, seems to make a couple of MPG difference, and they are usually cheaper per litre than Asda/Morrison’s own brand standard fuel.
