Good to see BMW realize the old grill on the M440i wasn’t working. Everytime I see them on the street the grill stands out as an eye-sore. This new grill makes a night and day difference.

Tail lights are a trip, but they don’t look bad at all. That grille tho…

It’s the slats versus the honeycomb look.

What chicagofan said. [All black] Slats vs [two-tone] honeycomb makes a huge difference.

It was the slats the drove me nuts....i.e the M3/M4.

Does the aftermarket have anything for these like the CSL style on the G80's? Those were the ultimate cure for those cars.

Also, the grille's frame is much thinner than before and that helps a lot. One of the things that makes the M4's grille so much more acceptable is that it's frameless.

Huge upgrade on that grill. Honestly I think BMW did a great job with this LCI.

The car appeals to a wide range of people regardless of what enthusiasts think of the looks or driving experience.

As car payments and debt go up, cars are for most Americans the new status symbol. The look at me styling is in right now and the focus on isolation and luxury vs. driver feedback and driving engagement is what 99% of the general car buying cares about.

I’ve driven a few G series cars on the track and on the street and I have no interest owning one since they’re too numb/sterile for me but they are perfect mass market consumer cars and capture their intended audience perfectly, and I’ve reccomended them to friends/family.

‘numb, sterile’ - so what do you drive?

They do, as I have one on my car but I do think those slats on LCI look pretty good.

Yea I don’t like the honeycomb design either. Looks like a Kia/huyndai

Can’t speak for them, but while I respect the G series cars (well except for the UKL fancy Mini’s), I feel the same way.

Personally, an E90 335i (N55), which I had shipped across the US to me rather than buy a newer F30 or G20 340i. If I’m paying for BMW maintenance, I’d better damn well be able to feel the road. Not drive in a very fast, close-but not close enough driving sim (or a fancy Buick, looking at you, F30).

Bro I'm sorry but that look much worst than the LCI OEM grill.

The CSL grill works on the G8x because front fender/bumper is much wider and aggressive, also the side intake is open. The 4 series bumper does not fit this style grill. I would argue even the previous style look better... The car looks like it wants to throw up on its own...

‘Feel the road’ is really just NVH. Maintenance is free on a new BMW. I owned an E90 M3, great car and the best M3 ever made in my opinion. Can’t say I agree with the rest of your sentiment.
