Track info

Several changes have been introduced to the circuit, early in the lap, the chicane that formed T5 and 6 will be bypassed with a straight.

- The following hairpin has been brought forward and widened, increasing the speed carried onto the subsequent straight.

- A long and slightly banked turn has been created to replace the technical complex of corners (Turns 11-14) that existed previously. Think Dutch GP.

- Near the end of the lap, the four tight corners that route the track around the Yas Marina hotel (Turns 17-20) have all been opened up and made faster.

Modification to the track have shortened the circuit by 273m, so the race distance has been increased from 55 to 58 laps and lap times will be about 14 seconds faster.

Race will begin just before sunset and run a night. FP2 and qualifying are the only two relevant sessions.

Last year's winning strategy was medium to hard tire one-stopper.
Pole sitter won last 6 races.

Because it happened before Jerez, which set the precedent.

MB could do the same with BOT and have better odds of making it work...PER might not be close enough to the front for your scenario to work. RUS might also be persuaded to take on for the team. Don't try to act like MB is above getting dirty.

Still think my Kimi solution works better. Punt hammy, tell the FIA to pi$$ off and retire

If its near the end of the race Hamilton needs to have the fastest lap sown up...so that Verstappen won't risk crashing them both out of the results.

I seem to remember VET trying to take HAM out several times during their championship battle. As well as I can remember, the clashes always ended up with a piled up Ferrari

When I saw the brake check last weekend I thought surely HAM would need a new wing, NOPE

But, VER was also lucky not to come away with a cut tire

I don't condone it but should VER or PER decide to take HAM out they better do it BIG. If not HAM will drive away to another WDC IMHO.

As I mentioned several races ago my money is still on HAM & MB
Could be superior carbon technology, hockey stick companies recently invented a "elastomer" tech that strengths carbon fiber from micro cracking due to slashes and repeated wear and tear. It literally made sticks last alot longer before failing.

That is where HAM can count on BOT more than VER can rely on PER.

You guys forget Bottas took out both redbulls with one shot, XD, so if things get fishy Bottas could pull a bowling mastery again.

I don't know that the FIA was quite the 'nanny state' organization that it is today.

Guess I meant BOT will probably be better positioned on the grid to help HAM. Motivation to help could be a different story.

Fastest lap won't mean anything at this point.

Who ever finishes ahead of the other wins the championship.

This. Fastest lap is also meaningless if they DNF

And have Perez and Horner banned from F1 like Briattore and Piquet.

correct. fastest lap only gets you points if you finish in the top 10. its not going to matter to these two.

You have to finish in at least 10th to have the fastest lap count

Agreed, BOT still wants a career in F1 and I don’t see him throwing it away to help Lewis or Merc like this. Hold up Max etc where he can, sure but I don’t see him trying to deliberately crash Max.

That’s not MBs style anyway, they are going in very confident (probably arrogantly so) of their car, team and of course driver to get it done without resorting to that stuff.

40% of MAX's diffuser was gone ...the turbulence took the cars stability completely away .

HAM's "Flexible Mercedes front wing was just too strong !

Where's your actual (not opinionated sources like you provided last time) proof max's diffuser was damaged that badly?

BOT will fail again . As usual by the lack of racecraft .

Over one lap in QF he's OK , because he's pushed by the Merc warp-speed
But in the race I think he's very (too) chicken .
