I will make a prediction.
That once the car is fully launched and you see especially in how it stands out more than the standard G20 thanks to wider tyres and the wider track from the Coupe and its muscular body work over the wheel arches. And how that grille really compliments the car It has that effect. Now that I seen it I can't stop thinking about it. In a way I have seen something that has had an effect on me. In a good way of course. I think some of you that are still on the fence will love it. Not in the way as I will make you love it but once you see it. I see us finally reaching Stage 6 and acceptance.

That said, since you have the ear of M, you might direct their attention to the countless design sentiments and concerns expressed here by real M enthusiasts. We are legitimately their audience. If the front end spy shot was a test, they have their focus group feedback. I see this a.m. that production isn’t due until late ’20? Plenty of time to nail a design that is both progressive and almost universally applauded by M loyalists.

It's not all doom and gloom with the latest design language. BMW has brought out some pretty decent looking cars recently. I'm thinking of the Z4 and the 8 series. (I haven't driven an 8 but the Z4 drives well).
Admittedly, I don't like the new 1 or 3 much, and the front of the 4 Concept is too radical a change for me. I'm not interested in SUVs so can't really comment on the X series cars. I want BMW to succeed as I've followed them, owned quite a few and have put my faith in them for an awfully long time now. Designs are going through a bad patch right now but they'll bounce back in due course. Just don't screw up the 5 LCI next year please, BMW, as I'm planning on getting one - pretty please??!

You probably have 6 months left of going through type acceptance testing (crash testing, mpg etc.) and get all spare parts stocked, marketing events etc. cleared out from here. This I also the era of functional aero. To perform a design change on the frontal area of a car is likely a 2 year cycle from drawings, models, wind tunnel, weather/environmental testing, re-tooling etc. There is not nearly enough time. Forgettaboutait, it is what it is like it or not. |

It's awesome.
Although announced as 85% production ready. The major differences is a slightly more productionised front and rear although the ideas and shapes remain. However the profile outline and body surface work and broadness of the wheel arches are all carried over. It mixes F32 sportiness with the sophistication and dynamic style of THE 8.

Massive grille is clearly coming. It's seems naive to assume its going to be changed at this point.
It's a disaster, and it no longer makes the g80 a viable option for me - but we are where we are. I hope critics and enthusiasts push back to the extent where BMW finally acknowledges that they dropped the ball. Fine if they want to go ahead and butcher an x1, or candidly, even the likes of the 7 - but the m3 is the lifeblood of the brand. In my mind, it's a decision that feels impulsive. Not sure how anyone in their right mind can say the grille looks better than if it were the same dimensions as the g20...

Fine if they want to go ahead and butcher an x1, or candidly, even the likes of the 7, but the m3 is the lifeblood of the brand, and this kind of nonsense isolates the majority of an enthusiast base that doesn't exist to the same extent with any other BMW model. People are clearly annoyed. In my mind, it's a decision that feels impulsive in every respect. Not sure how anyone in their right mind can say the grille looks better than if it were the same dimensions as the g20...

The M3 is niche and that's why they can go wild (and will)...losing a few sales won't hurt their pockets. Although, I suspect this will be the best selling M3 to date even with all the defection threats on here. |

How does this turn into: This? I could give a passing grade for the Concept 4 but not this pre-production grill.
