Did you just tell your service advisor about the issue and they had it swapped out?

After a while, I hopped on here and noticed more posts about it. I emailed them the posts and he was able to look up the service bulletin. They ordered it and it only took a couple weeks to get. |

Just had the same ordeal with my amp. Originally the dealership said there was no bulletin in US for the issue. I shared the PUMA cases other members shared. I even recorded drops and bass cutting completely off with a GoPro and sent to the dealership.
They wanted to install a software update which could potentially fix issues, which I allowed. This did nothing as I stopped on the way home after picking up the car and as soon as I got back in the bass was cutting out upon startup. Now they have the amp on back order with no ETA, but at least it's on order! |

I was the OP but I finally got this resolved and can confirm the amp replacement fixed the issue. I referenced the service bulletin, Amp ordered, problem solved.

Finally the issue is resolved. I got the new amp replaced last week and it solved the bass cut off and popping noise. Also the quality of the audio is improved with the new amp.

I didn't have any luck. I referenced the service bulletin, but SA said it didn't pertain to my car VIN. And since they couldn't reproduce the sounds, they said to take notes, record it and then bring it back in. They would need to hold it for a couple days and provide loaner. He "understood" my frustration, but mentioned if they were to do an AMP replacement, sent back the old amp to BMW and was reported back in working condition, that the techs would be charged for the new amp. Regardless... my first service was done...

Has anyone experienced popping noises from the speakers?
2021 M340ix (Nov 2020 build date) experiencing the popping noises as well. No bass cutouts yet. It sounds like this is all related to the amp deficiencies. I'm new to BMW dealership service - what's the best approach to take?

I'm new to this as well, and I was hoping showing them the service bulletin would have been enough (guess it depends who your SA is). If you can record the issue(s), it seems that will help them out and replace your amp. It did for me, and I believe it helped someone else on here.

Went in and talked to a SA about the issue. They said it's a common and known issue. I will have to leave the car at the dealer while they make the case, get it approved by BMW, order the part, and install it. Anywhere from 3-5 business days. Made an appointment for next Monday to drop the car off as they didn't have a loaner when I went in. Will keep the thread updated on my experience.
I could somewhat live with the popping noise, but I am more excited to hear the improved sound from the system that everyone else mentioned when they got it fixed.

I took mine in and looks like they just performed a head unit reset due to multiple hu-h faults present. I only had a 10 min drive home and didn't hear any popping noises, but will definitely be keeping my ears open in the next couple days.

Has anyone had this issue lately? I have a 2021 M550 with the same issues. New amp fixed the bass but I'm still getting the random popping. Dealer has had the car on 6 occasions

So I had the Amp replaced in my car, yet I still seem to run into the same issues.
2021, M340i. Anyone experience the same issues after the amp replacement? Tempted to bring the car to a different BMW dealer, but ill probably need evidence of it dropping. |

2019 330i here, experiencing light popping from speakers on driver door upon acceleration, then yesterday the audio cut out completely on driver door. At first I thought it was just the track I was listening to on apple CarPlay but went into the fader/balance. When I moved balance all the way right, crystal clear. When I moved it all the way left, no sound came out at all. Before I could pull over to get a recording, it came back on.
Does this sound like the same amp issue? Or do I have a loose connection somewhere since it’s only drivers side speakers? Thanks! |
