To code using a Samsung Galaxy phone, you can use a USB C to Enet adapter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07VP...b_b_asin_title) and an enet cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ME...b_b_asin_title). You also need to buy the Bimmercode app from Google Play. You connect the enet cable to the car via it's OBD port (pic in the link https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=120). And then connect the enet cable to your phone via the USB C adapter. Once connected, enable “Static IP“ in the Android Ethernet settings(“Connections“ > “More connection settings“ > “Ethernet“ > “Configure Ethernet device“ > “Static IP“) and make the following entries: IP Address: 169.254.250.250 Netmask: 255.255.0.0 Default gateway: 0.0.0.0 DNS address: 0.0.0.0 Disconnect the cable and connect it again to make the changes take effect. Open the settings in the BimmerCode app and make sure the correct adapter type is selected ("3 dots on the top right of the app" > "Settings" > "Adapter" > " ENET cable") Tap “Connect” on the start screen in the BimmerCode app. Upon first use a dialog is displayed and you have to allow BimmerCode access to the UBS device. Please confirm with “OK“ and then tap “Connect” again. You then have to choose your car from the list and it'll access all the modules in your car. You do not use a laptop for coding. Only your phone or tablet. Also, make sure your phone is in airplane mode before you code. If someone calls you while you're coding your car, it can mess things up. So make sure it's in airplane mode and has enough charge.

And honestly I haven't done anything. It's the others mainly who have been doing a lot of research. Huge shout out to all of them (too many to list here). You all know who you are!

I finally got sport + coded after a warranty repair. What a headache that was. I ended up emailing Stephan at Bimmercode to become a beta tester. He sent the invite and I was finally to code all the features that I couldn't code without the beta. I noticed that the driving mode screen doesn't come up when you change the driving mode. Is that in the settings or did I code it to be turned off. It doesn't really matter because I can go into the settings still. Come to think of it the passengers don't need to know when I change the driving mode. Another thing I wish Sport + had was tighter steering. I miss the tight steering on my Cooper S JCW. I looked thru to see it sport + steering is a thing but I didn't see anything. Ideas?

Just finished coding Sports+ and can confirm there is pretty noticeable difference in the amount of pops and burbles coming out of the exhaust. Does anyone know why this was restricted in the US in the first place?

Please grant me leniency if this is against forum rules (Moderator please delete if it is).
Is there anyone around the Pittsburgh, PA area that has the equipment and has done this? Sure it may only cost me like $40 all in, but I'm cheap what can I say. |

It’s not called being cheap. If there isn’t much one wants to do with bimmercode, doesn’t make sense buying it. I would’ve done it for you but I live in IL unfortunately.

BimmerCode and the associated plugs/wires is hella cheaper than the interface required for VAGCOM/VCDS for Audi and VW... I had no hesitation buying BimmerCode and the adapters, they're damn near free.

Yup. I think I paid around $100 or so for OBDeleven. Can't remember how much exactly. BMW is significantly cheaper but still.

Yup. Go to car, general settings, scroll down to pop ups and see if drive experience control is checked or not. Rarely, that can get unchecked when you do codings or get software updates and it won't pop up on the idrive screen when you change modes.

Sorry but there’s no ‘cheap’ excuse. It’s under 50 bucks for the app and cable but more importantly you will need to redo the coding whenever your software is updated to a newer version.

You should be able to code sport plus on your 330e. It add pops and bangs.

Please be aware that you can have either xtraboost or Sport+, not both. For me coding Sport+ in my 330e didnt add any sound, but maybe you are more lucky than I

So after all of the "cheap" slander I gave it another thought and decided to pay the ~$72 ($20 for ENET adapter + $20 for Ethernet to Lightning + $32 Bimmercode). The main reason I was hesitant about doing this was because the car is a lease so most likely I will be getting something different in 2 years and who knows if i'll ever use this equipment or app again. For approximately $0.07/day I figure it will be worth it.
Question: After purchasing the full version of Bimmercode do I still need to request access to TestFlight? |
