Auto Start Stop

Hey guys, need some insights or assistance. I have a 2020 bmw 330i and i just coded (bimmercode) ASS to remember last setting. On my last drive i had the ASS off and on the next drive, the ASS button didnt have the light on. Did i do something wrong or did i skip something that should be coded. The coding i did was not in expert mode since it was offered outside expert mode. Any fix/solution for this?

If your software version is pretty recent, it is not codable.
You can xHP tune to disable auto start stop or
Install a small part under the gearbox that does the job

Read up a bit more on here. There are a lot of threads talking about coding ASS. But basically the work around for now is using BimmerCode to have the car start in sport individual.

Like others said, it's a known issue as of software version 3/2023.XX. Bimmercode can no longer touch the DME. Although, I've seen in another thread a user saying they were able to code the memory function by coding ASS not-active, and ASS memory active. Said it worked for them. Planning on trying it out this afternoon on my 2020 to see if it works.

I am on 03/2024.25 and I coded ASS off by default. I also coded button memory. Works fine for me.

Now I do have XHP and that also has a setting to switch off ASS which I have done. Not sure if it's this that makes it work.

But the memory setting does work (XHP does not have a memory setting, only ability to disable ASS)

I only have bimmercode for now. Have you tried it on bimmercode?

That's what I said, it was coded on bimmercode. That coding is all done on bimmercode. I just also have XHP which has the option to switch it off too, and I mentioned I also have that set to ASS off.

I'm on 03/2024.25 and it works for me, but it must be that I also have it set to "OFF" in XHP also, and its XHP that is making it switch off and stay off (unless I manually turn it on with the button)

Gotcha. Mine is 7/2019. The tune is the only thing really differentiating our cars.

By doing this, does this mean, if you accidentally turn on your ASS, it will be on by the next start of trip? I was just trying to figure out if the memory works.

The reference to "memory" in this context means that what you set the button to during a drive will be remembered after the next start, whereas, from factory, that button is reset every time you switch of and restart the car.

This. On the F30 and G20 (prior to 3/23 software via coding), you used to be able to turn it off ASS and the car will remember. Instead now, you have to remember to turn it off every time you go to drive.

Using bimmercode to code the ASS memory does work for me, however I am running XHP (gearbox tuning software) and I have ASS set to off in that which may affect or override the coding.

I don't know but for me its permanently off now and if I switch it back on using the button it will remember whatever I set it to.

I am on 03/2024.25
