M340i - Would like more power
...from the audio system. The standard hi-fi system sounds good to me but I find myself listening with the volume at 50-80% most of the time which just feels and looks weird when you see it on the display. My question is: are there any plug-and-play amps for the G20 that would boost the power from the standard hi-fi system?

Same. Although I feel like I'd be satisfied if the same volume that was produced at 3/4 was at half or less, it would give me that placebo effect. Could use a bit more bass but otherwise I'm happy with the system.

You'll want to look here:
https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/match/amplifiers/ Complete plug and play using the factory harness. You are also able to control each channel independently in terms of gain/cross over points etc..via their application (you actually load tunes into the amp and you can manipulate the tunes live while listening then store them) My Son installed the UP7-BMW amp into his car with the factory speakers and it's simply phenomenal. Also has a low level bypass (that you can set) if you want to hand off to a mono amp to drive a bass speaker. |

The G20 HiFi OEM amp cannot be replaced by the UP7-BMW - the G20 OEM amp is the radio unit as well.

So is it correct to say that no one (including Audiotec Fischer, Bavsound, and Bimmertech) makes a plug and play replacement for the G20 standard HiFi amp at this point? I've googled around and come up empty so far.

To my knowledge no. I did the bavsound stage 1 speakers and the ghost subs are on the way (will install in 2 weeks or so). Clarity is great but power leaves something to be desired.

The iDrive 7 has no OEM amp to replace, it is a radio/amp module (RAM). Remove the RAM and there is no iDrive 7.

Ah, interesting. That explains the lack of upgrade options. I assume this is only the case on the standard Hifi setup? The upgraded audio systems have discreet amps I would imagine?

Top HiFi systems add a Booster to the RAM only for the woofers (HK) and some speakers (B&W). RAM power the rest of the speakers.

So there's no separate amp. for the base system?
In the X5 forum there are some cool technical guides which illustrate the components and where they are in the car.
