That's basically what it is.

I wonder if all the BMW fans are on Audi forums, Trolling Hard?

you guys don't think BMW did their research on this? with the huge power bump and new model this is not surprising, if you want something cheaper buy the smaller engine...

the NEW M3 will be starting in the low to mid $70s now, and the performance of this M340i with AWD is going to be pretty damn close to the current M3 on the street (not track).

C43 AMG starts at $54,395 (with dest charge)
DOES NOT INCLUDE LEATHER SEATS, NAV, OR PREMIUM SOUND
Add in the following all Standard on the M340i
LED lights $850
moonroof $1,000
3 years maintenance (30,000 miles) $1,175

Total $57,420

So yeah they are priced where they should be...
in fact $425 less than Mercedes and based on specs I would take the BMW over the Merc right now

If Genesis G70 looks like an Audi or BMW interior (I never looked at Hyundai) it means two things:
- either Hyundai is already par with BMW in quality,
- either BMW quality went down (yes, it did).
Both are upsetting.

Also Audi was never closed to BMW quality in the past; things change.

Even if Genesis went on par, the rule of a luxury brand requires that they step-up their game, to evolve. You can not rely on your luxury image and do nothing, or worse, start installing pantyhose material in the headlining and a saggy drapery as sunroof cover instead of a hard closed unit that also plays the temperature cushion control as well (plus sun reflective material like in the past). And all this for more money.

That's ok, if BMW wants to go that route let's be it.
Mazda looks at Toyota instead at BMW for benchmark? Funny, but not funny.

I'll pass. So what? 70-75 well equipped? For the entry level sedan? not until some major incentives come out.

It's like they want everyone driving M2Cs. And I'm ok with that.

See attached. This is from the LA Auto Show.
So the RWD M340i should be around $55K base and doesn't even include leather and/or the better audio system.

I don't need nor want the lux accessories like NAV, or digital dash, or even the "driver aids". My needs are simple, all of the "sport" items that make for the best driving capability and a good sounding audio system. I'll bet BMW does the stupid again, by forcing buyers to get some expensive "premium pkg" in order to get a $900 audio upgrade, making the $900 audio upgrade cost $4000 plus.

Well, as much as I like what I see about the new M340i, BMW has worked their magic by which to lose my future customership.

Hmm....what is the Genesis website again, with the G70, S. Korea may get a new immigrant to their car brand.
Good luck with Genesis. They are not selling well at all and the dealer experience is typical low rent Hyundai/Kia subprime store...

Buy CPO. Wait 6-8 months for one to show up from a repentant first adopter. 25% off right off the bat and that first guy took the brunt of depreciation...

Can't understand why anyone would be shocked at the price. X3 M40i starts at $54,650. Nicely loaded, the M340i XDrive should cost than an equally optioned X3 M40i.

These vehicles are arguably best in class. Move along because there is nothing for you to see here if that doesn't work for you.

Albert Biermann surely is building the BMW of East lol
i can see Hyundai is doing the "lexus" game with genesis (tons of options standard), but damn I mean, with the new elantra (called Avante in Korea), a bare optioned comes equipped with high res + tech, steering heating, cooling and heating seats...and BMW still asks $$ option for folding rear seats

but again...Porsche asks customers to pay thousands to put a 3 inch leather strip in the center console

You get what you pay for with the Koreans. Don't believe for a minute that they are
giving you a car built to BMW standards for a bargain price. Corners have been cut somewhere, trust me. There is no free lunch

This isn't the 'entry-level sedan'. If you think it is, the M3 is too.

The differences between the G20 M340i and the G20 320i are probably more like the differences between the E36 325i and the E36 M3. and the 2020 M3 (G80?) is just another level beyond that, performance-wise.

Seriously, the M340 is a great looking car, and if they offered it with a manual, I'd be getting very tempted right about now, despite the price increase.

Without a manual though, and I don't want it unless I have another car with a manual to scratch that itch. And if I have that car, do I really need a do-everything sports sedan, or can I save $20k and get a less awesome car as my daily?

It's called inflation. The buying power of the dollar diminishes more and more as each year goes by...

This pricing seems in line with what I expected. To be honest, there was only a 200 dollar a month price difference between the F80 and F30. If the next gens have the same delta then the M3 will be a better bargain IMO

This means that the new M3 will be significantly up in price as well.

So BMW prices are going up in future!

No wonder the new M2C is a super bargain!

sorry don't spit out completely inaccurate information.

"lucky to drive off under 70k"
-no one is forcing you to get ANY extra options. that's your personal preference.

"That range carries a HOST of other auto manufacturer options"
-waiting for that HOST of other companies that compare. in reality the number of people you imagine in your head switching brands to go buy a car that is actually COMPARABLE to the m340i is much smaller.

Thank you for that.

The reality is that the Genesis and Kia Stingers of the world are not flying off the dealer lots.

Reality is very few luxury buyers are ready to give up their German car of choice for a cheaper Korean facsimile.

If the performance is that close to that of the M3 then tell me who the hell is going to buy this, genius? Some 32 year old single guy that doesn't know he can get an M3 for a few thousand more that's who. Its not about price for performance, that was never the intention of the 3 series. Its about creating a 6 cylinder sedan that is competitive in nature to other manufacturers, not encroach on M3 territory and isolate a buying audience. They should be thinking about selling units of this car, which their clearly not doing now.

And why the hell are you telling us about a moonroof? Do you honestly think any of us writing here care about a moonroof on an M340? Because there's nothing I want more then to spend $1000 on a moonroof I can only use when the traffic smog in the U.S isn't terrible. Stop drinking all the kool aid BMW puts out and go buy some more of their carbon fiber coffee mugs.
