The dreaded burble

I love the way the stock exhaust has just a slight burble in sport+. It's just perfect.

But I cannot stand, for the love of god, that annoying ass, backfiring fart can shit that people do with these cars and a tune. You know, the one where when they let off the gas and it sounds like firecrackers are going off? The gunshots in the hood? Absolutely disgusting. Why, please tell me, why?! What's the point of even upgrading your stock exhaust when you hear that crap instead.

Honestly I wouldn’t want an exhaust that sounds like gunshots either. Crackles and pops and dsg farts I can do.

just so i'm clear.... you're saying people are "upgrading" their stock g20 exhausts to sound like the fart cans you find on Civics?

No no sir, what I'm saying is people are upgrading their exhausts in general, and then tune their cars to have that loud ass cracking sound that completely ruins having an upgrade in the first place. BTW, nothing against Civics, from the b16 to the b20vtec to the k series, with a proper exhaust they actually sound damn good.

Oh yeah I wasn't saying anything against Civics. But they do appear to be the ones with the most frequent cases of fart can syndrome.

I guess I agree with you. I love the sound of the stock exhaust, it's not over the top but still provides the occasional gunshot. Anything more is just starting to get into obnoxious land.

Like I said before. Pops and bangs and “DSG farts” are nice. Not ricer exhaust sounds. And I’m not a fan of the gunshot sounds the MP tune can add to the M340i.

They do it for the 'Gram.... I personally am not a fan of it, either. I enjoy my stock M2 tune burble but these lame burble tunes that keep the burble on overrun going for what seems like 30 seconds is dumb. I see a lot of guys do it so they can get the exhaust to shoot flames, you know, for clout... I'm tired of it, too. It sounds incredibly lame when it's excessive like that.

I love the stock sound of my M340I. Making it a bit louder, okay, but I just cant imagine why anyone would want to make the actual sound worse lol..

The "gun shots" just make it sound cheap in my opinion.

Damn bro who hurt you?

Nah but seriously the over the top burbles people put in with tunes are pretty obnoxious. Especially on the raspy-ass S55 cars.

As an enthusiast, I love diversity. It'd be pretty damn boring if there weren't stanced cars, low riders, ricers, and muscle cars out there.

I personally have similar tastes as the OP: OEM look, low key burbles, catback, OEM or quality aftermarket wheels, etc. However, I enjoy seeing what other people like. Gunshot burbles personally do not annoy me. But anyone doing something stupid late at night and disturbing people in their homes is a no-go for me.

As long as you enjoy your fun away from residential areas, I fail to see why anyone should care.

NO to raspy and harsh and gunshotty
Yes to a warm full bodied burble fart (a BART or a Furble maybe)

I too like it.

At night when I drive home or when I'm in traffic or with others on the street, I just switch my car to comfort mode and try to not disturb anyone.

I don't like it either, especially since its just a gimmick to try and add character to the exhaust sound. It's up there with fake vents and speaker generated engine noise imo.

But I also think most cars with less than 8 cylinders don't sound great so
