How/why did they count a 2022 i3 in Q3 2025 sales? So one has been sitting on some dealer's lot for the last 3 years?

Looks like the 2020 6-series GT was even more notable according to https://www.bmwblog.com/2025/10/02/b...q3-2025-sales/

There will be a iX4 NK follow-up, but yeah, direct 8er and Z4 follow-ups are not currently planned.

Given Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche are down 5-12% YTD these results are stellar

Hang out here long enough to love through a LCI or two, not to mention a series update, and you’ll quickly be able differentiate between the repetitive dissing and those who actually contribute to the discussion.

I often wonder how these folks’ minds work IRL.

This is because end of sept the incentives were expiring. So it’s a bit too early to tell q4 will tell more of the story here. I would have expected a last minute surge in sales here.

I also live in a high cost (or maybe high dealer greed) location.

I just bought a M50 listing for $73075 for 9% off that MSRP. Two notes: broker fee was $600 and dealer was $425.

It’s hysterical when I see folks like you who clearly have drastically over paid for the vehicles and don’t have the self-awareness before posting to check their facts.

The new x3 has been discounted by brokers since they were released day 1.
Yes there was a spike in q3 but look at the YTD numbers. There is no growth there at all. Have fun over paying and posting comments like these.

Maybe one day you’ll wake up and realize you don’t know it all and your bank acct could benefit.

Furthermore, there is a an economic beta to these numbers. I.e how does the overall new car sales of 2025 compare to 2024 which should naturally lift all manufacturers sales. And 2025 is up from 2024. If you remove this beta then 2025 x3 sales are under performing.

iX4 will be an EV.
X4 is ICE and a ... more expensive X3 (same platform, wheelbase, etc.)? But not for much longer.

I have no idea what X4 was designed to do, and based on sales trends, not a lot of other people have been willing to find out either.
I guess it was part of that German designers' 4-door coupé group obsession of the last decade.

The same argument could be made for X5 vs. X6 - same platform and drivetrain, one $5-10K more expensive than the other, and sells at just ~10-15% of the unit sales rate of the other.

True 'dat.
Actual observed sales and revenue is the only real truth.
Well, aside from the margins required to book those sales. Unfortunately, BMW doesn't disclose those per model.

Interesting that X3 makes up a good chunk of sales. Are these included in the electric vehicle totals because they have that tiny electric assist motor that does next to nothing? Not sure if all X3s have this.

I personally contributed to the G45 X3 sales in Q3 this year. I was looking for a replacement for my G20 330i which was about to go out of warranty. Initially I didn’t like the G45, it was the front seats that killed it for me, but then I got my hands on a G45 30 as a loaner car for 4 days while my i5 M60 was in service. After living with the G45 for a few days, I realized the front seats were perfectly fine and my local dealer had 3 fully optioned G45 M50’s in stock.

After doing another short test drive in the M50 I was sold. Negotiated 5% off MSRP and got a killer deal on my trade in with a bit of money down and I got a great deal on my new G45 M50. I gotta say the interior quality of the M50 is actually very nice, especially compared to my old G20. What also made me turn to the G45 was the reveal of the iX3 NK. I really like exterior of the iX3 but I hate the interior, I just couldn’t do it, and also no one talks about the fact that the iX3 weighs well over 5,000lbs, same as my i5. I didn’t want another heavy car. Meanwhile the M50 comes in at a seemingly paltry 4,500lbs, it’s quite nimble for what it is, and with 393hp and a real world fuel economy of over 30mpg from the updated B58, it’s a great vehicle, and my first ever SUV I have ever owned. My only complaint about the G45 is that BMW decided to use a lower quality camera for the backup camera and it’s kind of annoying, there’s a huge difference picture quality between my I5 M60 and the G45 backup camera picture quality. Even my 2013 M5 has a better quality camera than this 2025 G45. Weird.

I gotta say overall the new G45 X3 is a fantastic BMW and I can see why they are selling a lot of them. I think the NK X5 is going to be a huge win for BMW too, I’m just hoping they tone down the interior a bit for the new X5.

I'm certainly no fanboy, but I am an extremely satisfied owner of an i4. If anyone has any actual questions about EVs, rather than just uninformed rants, etc., I'm happy to answer them.

EVs aren't for everyone at this point, but if they fit your needs they're pretty awesome. Are they perfect? No. Are there still lots of cool things about ICE vehicles? Yep. Do I think ICE will/should go away any time soon? Nope. But it isn't a zero sum proposition, and there are pros and cons to both types of vehicle.

Just goes to show how much out of touch enthusiasts are with what the general consumer wants. I don't love some of the current BMW styling trends but it seems like the general public finds current BMW's more appealing than the competition which isn't overly surprising as BMW is taking styling risks while new Audi's don't look much different than they did a decade ago save for having much worse interiors and MB's jelly bean look isn't resonating with buyers.

Yep, I'm quite enjoying my i5. I don't plan to own it long term, but I do think EVs will be my daily drivers for the foreseeable future

It’s negated by the increase in driving experience and performance. Which is way more essential.

I remember our sales guy saying the X4 and maybe all 4 series were going away. The reason we didn’t opt for the X4 is because we like to take our big dog with us everywhere so we go for the boxier SAVs. Although I lusted for an X6 with side rails back in the day, an X3 proved the right size.
We were part of the Q3 X3 sales jump when we bought the 2026 X3M50. We’ve never ordered a vehicle. The one we bought had all the options I wanted and dazzled in the sunlight. We drove some 2025 X3 CPOs and the thrill of a turbo six and a mild hybrid, sold it for me. Also, the big screen, voice commands, and the iDrive, is fabulous once we spend the required time and study to get the most of our ultimate driving machine.

A pilot’s license or engineering degree would definitely help. I’m a retired IT professional and I’ve realized I lost a lot of my “chops” so our study time has dramatically increased for learning the new design.

With the caveat that I don't really like any SUVs, if I had to choose I'd prefer the X4/X6 over the everything-looks-the-same-as-every-other-SUV design of the other X models. At least the X4/X6 look somewhat different.

But the entire world seems thrilled to drive the same cookie-cutter SUV designs, so what do I know? Excuse me while I continue yelling at this cloud.

I'm not saying anyone is wrong for buying an X model or other SUV – you do you – just that they aren't my cup of tea.

I'm with you out on that lonely island. My wife loves her boxy SUV, but in my brain they have no appeal. If you need to haul lots of stuff or people, minivans are so much more practical, unless the stuff you are hauling requies a pickup truck in which case that's obviously your answer. If you don't need to haul lots of stuff or people, a sedan or coupe (or even a wagon if it's a BMW-style wagon) looks better, drives better, lower center of gravity, all that. My wife feels safer sitting higher where she can see better, but that's not worth the tradeoff for me.

But clearly, along with you, I'm an outlier among the general public and if SUVs are what turns their cranks, well, good for them, it's just not for me. Of course if I had to buy one, X6 would certainly be on my list compared to most others.
