Will Ventilated Seats be an option for the G20 at some point?

I'm curious to know if anyone thinks or possibly knows if BMW will eventually offer front ventilated seats on the G20 3 series, possibly for the 2021 model year? The X3 and X4 have them as options and I'm curious as to why they're not available for the G20 3 series.

Yup. It should have been an option. The other Germans offer it as an option. I wonder what’s holding BMW back.

They’ll add it during LCI and piss off the early adopters.

I have them on my 530e. Assuming one is wearing clothes, I can't tell that it is on (other than through the sound of the fan) on normal days. But on days when I have been exercising in hot weather, then I can and do feel the ventilation and it helps.

But unlike other companies, it is purely ventilation.

There are also posts from some members who don't like the ventilated seats.

I could see it coming out as a option but maybe in the M3. but a complete seat refresh or option in mid cycle, seems unlikely but I would be ok if im wrong!

Had ventilated on my prior Lexus 3IS and it was nothing to rejoice about. You could barely feel it on a hot summer day unless you're in shorts or you go au natural like our friend Benjamin above.

I have ventilated seats in my Volvo XC90 and love it! It’s a black vehicle so in the sun, summer or long drives it make a huge difference with comfort and avoiding swamp@ss!!

I’ll be ordering an M340i after the crisis is more or less over and I would delay a month or 2 if it was part of the 2021 release. Are there any common or expected 3 series additions in year 2?

The 3IS ventilated seats were so weak but they also weren't "cooled" so can't complain too much.

I was actually glad to escape the ventilated seats in my 3IS... they felt great but man what a pain to clean. Every dust particle gets in the holes and it takes a one-by-one dental softpick job to get them clean.

I would prefer a nicer leather over ventilated seats (although both would be ideal).

Somehow I never had this issue. Not sure it's because of the different seats in the 3IS vs. my 2IS or what, but I don't recall ever getting dust particles stuck in the holes.

I had a 2IS as well as a 3IS, but the seats weren't ventilated in the 2IS, so I'm not sure what differences in design might have existed. My 3IS were f-sport style seats. It wasn't a deal-breaker or anything, and honestly in terms of overall feel, the NuLuxe (synthetic leather) of the Lexus had a better feel to it than the Vernasca leather in my G20, but it's one of those little annoyances I'm glad to avoid. On the other hand, the G20 with the thigh supports pulled out also seems to become a dustbin fast. So much easier to remedy with a hand vac or even a wet towel, though, than each of those little holes in the Lexus that truly took time to clean.

Yeah I had ventilated seats in my 2IS. My guess is the different seat design. Mine was a 2008, before Lexus ever introduced any sort of f-sport models. Agree on the nuluxe though, much softer and more comfortable than the vernasca.

I had them in an 8 Series courtesy car (amazing what you can get when you ask!!) and to be honest it was hard to tell if they were on or off.

I have been in a S Class Merc and they were noticeable.....but the massage function was far more pleasurable than ventilated seats will ever be.....

Probably not worth it, many on the X3 forums (they share the same seats as the G20) complained about the comfort of the seats with many saying they were hard as a rock, and the fact that ventilated seats gets rid of adjustable bolstering.

I would prefer cooled seats over ventilated seats, I had a rental Mustang with them and they worked pretty well.

If they are not ventilated just offer a perforated leather option. That in itself is a big help.

any updates on this? it sounds ridiculous but no ventilated seats is keeping me from buying the G20. i'm a back and butt sweater and just refuse to buy a $50k+ car without it. i had a v6 mustang rental with basic options and it had ventilated seats for pete's sake!

It's worth mentioning that the G22 has ventilated seats. That could mean - but by no means guarantees, I'd stress - that the G20 will become a beneficiary at some point (perhaps the LCI, for example).

I had them in my F06 and loved them during fall and spring as I could feel them more. In hot summer I couldn't even tell they were on aside from the noise, or so I thought. Now in my G20 the seats get and stay so hot it is uncomfortable, it is noticeably warmer than before in summer. So while they didn't "cool" much, they did keep the seats from getting as hot as they would have otherwise.
