F30 to G20 missing features
Love my G20 330i to death, such an advancement on my (admittedly) early build F30. However, I have noticed a couple of things that have quietly disappeared from the change to the current model (and don't appear even as an option)
1. Headlamp washers 2. elasticised cargo net on floor of boot The former I don't miss, but the latter I do. Anyone else with any other deletions?

Cargo nets are easy to find on Amazon. I actually went and sourced 3 different ones - 2 small and 1 large - for securing different loads of gear in the back. Look for motorcycle cargo nets like these:

Headlamp washers ruin a clean, polished car if they're not functioning properly. I'm not sad to see them go. Get Windex. Spray. Repeat.
The net could be an aftermarket solution. Are there still hooks?

Really miss the extra hidden 12 volt plug under the glove box on the passenger side in the F30...used it for my radar detector.
Also miss the dials to change temp. Easier to use while driving. |

My wife almost killed the deal over the lack of a cargo net. We use the net on the F30 all the time. I know we can get aftermarket nets, but I don't see an easy way to mount one without modifying the trunk floor.

Unfortunately I noticed some things as well.
My passenger side mirror doesn't have the dimming feature and the other mirrors that do, it doesn't cover the edges. If I remember correctly, the paddle shifters in the F36 were all metal or aluminum. On the G20, they look aluminum from the front, but are plastic on the back. There is no longer the automatic windshield wiper button, they now made it a function of pulling up the lever. |

The m240i also changed the turn indicator lever to work like it does in every other car on the planet, not the weird "I can't turn it off without signaling the other direction" design from our 2012 F30. Hopefully the G20 will do the same. |

They did change it in the G20. Thank God! Frikkin hate it in my X3 and I thought I was the only one ending up signaling the other direction trying to turn the damn indicator off. No wonder BMW drivers are known for not using it

The G20 unfortunately is also missing the rear passengers pull up shades and automatic rear window shade, which could be optioned on the F30. Useful when parked out in the sun..

I hadn't realized that BMW had done that. I don't blame you.
My view is that there should be real buttons and switches for those features that one will use while driving. For all other features, go ahead and put the stuff in IDrive and I don't care if I have to go through sub menus to get there...I don't have to take my eyes off the road to do that. My G30 is pretty terrific in that regard. I have the switches for the AC, the seats, and the volume on the radio. It would be nice to have the station switch also but the availability of the presets combined with the display of the presets on the HUD make that unnecessary. And, of course, the BMW programmable buttons. I suspect that BMW saved $1.25 by eliminating the AC switch. But that $1.25 might cost them a customer. Short sighted thinking. |
