Just noticed that they changed the 8-presets, its now defroster buttons, hopefully they will actually leave the presets alone, I love that BMW's still have them.

Hopefully BMW is not following other automakers and making their electric cars uglier versions of the petrol ones. A little assistance from i8 designers would be helpful!

Let's hope for the best.

Got it!

Hydrogen is not imminent, it's been pushed forward 5-10 years.

That horizontal sticking-out screens are lazy-Mercedes-like design!

Why has the first fully electric Gran Coupe (when all past Gran Coupes have been gorgeous) to inherit all the recent BMW bad trends: hood line, giant (and in this case useless) kidneys, non integrated dash screen, etc...??

They just had to release a fully electric car looking on the exterior like a F36 without a hood and in the interior looking like the G20. Nothing more and nothing less. It was very simple.

Maybe that's why they're making them so thick. You get cramps while driving so you'd want the car to drive itself instead.

This suggest hydrogen is a couple of years away not 5-10 unless that has changed since the Frankfurt motto show last year?

I'm sure hydrogen will stay a minor solution for cars. At least several new european comparisons (e.g. AGORA, Paul Scherrer Institute) show clear negative energy and CO2 summaries against BEV.
It needs much more electrical energy for the same range, infrastructure is much more expensive than BEV chargers and you need trucks for transport and a lot of water (f.e. ~7L for 60Mi for the Mirai).
It will raise most likely for certain applications like ships and maybe aircrafts, where weight is a critical aspect and supply is centralized.

Batteries will become yet better since research investments have grown exponentially the last 3-4 years.

Yes.

Seriously though, they better not copy Mercedes' lazy non-design.

Looks like dash for people who have no interest in driving at all. Furhermore BMW had best instrument cluster for decades and they decided to chenge it for video game display.

I don’t think these are the actual dashboard screens. They look like a rough install on top of the actual dash. You can see interior design elements at the bottom that seem to continue on behind the “screens”. If look closely, you’ll notice at the top that there is a curved piece that could hold the instrumentation, which appears to be partially filled with foam. The two pieces on the surface of the “screens” look to be similar to those privacy films sometimes used on computer monitors, which you can only see through when facing them straight on.

I’m just guessing though.

Can’t wait to see the uncamouflaged i4. Very interested in buying a performance EV, but can’t live with Tesla’s jnterior design. This car could be the answer.
