My 330e is on v36. The my BMW app does not have remote 360 view though the old connected app does?

So the heater in my 330e stopped working whilst I was driving home and would only blow cold air. A quick call to Dick Lovett BMW in Swindon and they told me to bring it in. The gave me a courtesy car whist carrying out tests which could not reveal a cause. All working now so have to see if it reoccurs.
Anyway, as I hadn’t received an over the air update I asked them to install the latest software and I’m now on 11/2020.36. Big shout out to Dick Lovett Swindon who were brilliant throughout!

Does anyone on the latest dealer installed update have ‘in car’ Alexa yet?
The last My BMW app update (actually it’s 2 updates old now) said it was now available with iDrive 7. Previously it’s only worked with iDrive 6.

I’m on whatever the latest OTA update is, car is in on Tuesday with various bits and pieces. Am wondering whether to push for a dealer update or not as I’d quite like this, but I’ll believe it works when I see it!

I’ve done the ‘update all apps and services’ on the apps screen in the car and unlike the ‘auto location window’ app, doing this doesn’t make it simply appear.

Am thinking maybe it needs the right version of/latest version of iDrive?

Also, the Connected Drive app and Alexa links seems completely broken now.

I’m talking about the actual voice Alexa assistant working in the car, not just remote features using Alexa in the home (which is broken as above!). There’s been an official BMW video out for a good year showcasing this feature in car, but was only ID6.

Anyone any ideas?

I had my car updated to 2020/11 as in the myBMW app it states that is required for Alexa.

But alas nothing. No change in menus.

I called connecteddrive and explained to them that

1 a BMW press release now states it's available

2 on the same day MyBMW app is updated

3 24 hrs later BMW YouTube video released how to install in id7.

Apparently in the uk it's still broken and won't be available until next year.

My dealer is as frustrated as I am. Nobody seems to really know when it's coming.

On 15th Dec I was updated in the dealers to 11/2020.42 and still no Alexa. Nothing really noticeably different but hopefully it will be slightly more stable on a couple of things, ie car play dropping out, forgetting default charger amp settings (kept reverting to 6amp) etc etc.

The option to add in 3rd party voice assistant certainly is not in settings like on the official BMW YouTube video and updating apps and services in iDrive doesn’t pull it through either.

The new software updates seem to be coming quickly to dealers. Let us hope they release some OTA soon to all owners. I would like in car Alexa as would be useful to me.

BMW Connecteddrive yesterday in an email told me Alexa in the car will be available February 2021.

That's the first news from anyone after the press release and MyBMW app update.

I guess the backend server problem remains.

I have 330e since June / 2020 with software 03 / 2020.30. I never received an OTA update. I read on some other forum that the OTA for 330e would be delayed in relation to pure combustion vehicles. I also read that someone tried to update in the dealership to the 07/2020 software version and they couldn't. Then they upgraded directly to 11/2020 successfully. Perhaps, then, the 330e will finally be updated OTA when the OTA 11/2020 version is available. Just a guess.

So with latest software update I now have Apple CarPlay.
I prefer original BMW navigation system rather than Apple one and default is the BMW system so that’s ok.
Audio system links to my IPhone music automatically if previously connected or by selection if not.
What I can’t do now is use voice command to phone someone - am I missing something?

Just because we're after November doesn't mean your OTA won't eventually arrive on the 7/2020.xx version. I have an early (April build) MY21 7 series and this car only received the prompt for the OTA about 2 weeks ago. It installed 7/2020.80.

If BMW does indeed push a 11/2020.xx version to 330e cars very likely this wouldn't occur until the 11/2020.xx base code is mature. I. E. After the 3/2021.xx begins.

My car is still stuck on the ‘downloaded and you will be notified when upgrade can be installed’ screen. Only two months and waiting. Fully charged the battery, drove a few thousand miles, still nothing.

I have had this issue, amongst lots of others and it turns out mine requires a new ECU - over £2k! luckily it's all under warranty . My cars been in with BMW for nearly a month now, and the part still hasn't arrived!! fingers crossed it'll be sorted shortly.

I also seem to be stuck trying to get an OTA upgrade. Had my 2020 M340 since March last year and wasn't really bothered looking for updates initially.

Just realised yesterday about the new My BMW app and it said a remote upgrade was available, it's offering me 07/2020.54 which it has downloaded and says 'continue in vehicle' as above.

However in the car it says preparation complete and it will notify when it's ready to install. Is this what others are experiencing?

I also thought there was a November update? I'm assuming you need to be on July first though to get that.

Or should I just take it into the dealer?! What with lockdown #2 though not sure I can at the moment ��

Just make sure your battery is at optimum charge, I had to drive 30+ miles for mine to start installing (this happens when you come to a stop) as my normal commute of 11 miles each way was never enough to put full charge in the battery.
