I have a 2020 ecu that was unlocked a couple of months ago and stage 2 tuned. now recently I bought a new wireless obd2 adapter from bm3 and it seemed to work for a second and then after a while my obd2 wouldn't connect. i waited till the next day and it worked again but now it saying that I need to bench unlock my ecu even tho I already did a while ago. i never updated anything or enabled auto updates. the car still seems to have some features as the sports display still says 560 hp and the gts start up roar is there but the power doesn't seem to be the same... or the pops. assuming it went back to stock power. does anyone know what could have happened?

yes ,it had OTA update (over the air update ) so ECU got locked state again. your tune has been wiped out

OTAs don´t install themself without the user knowing...

I could be wrong, but if he hasn't removed the automatic update box, then it will update automatically ;=)

Since when?
BMW stopped the OTA of ECU updates and switched to RSU with the MyBMW app.
The updated will be downloaded to the phone and then to the car, but will never be installed without the driver confirming.
The car is unusable for 30 minutes.

how can i turn off auto updates in the car? i believe they are turned off on my BMW app but I'm not sure for the car itself. and if I unlock my car again I should be good right? to tune I mean

You can open the data protection settings in your MyBMW app and turn off the RSU from there.
You can also turn off the automatic download of updates in the settings of the MyBMW app.

yea so to clear it up, my car seemed to have locked, had to get the ecu unlocked again and paid 300 dollars on top of the 300 I already paid before. smh. for anyone reading this. please never update the car
