Angry Bimmercode unable to code Auto Start Stop to remember last setting

I have a 2023 430i XDrive and am trying to code auto start-stop to remember the last user setting using vLinker BM+ Bluetooth OBD. Bimmercode goes through the coding process and it seems to run into an error because it says "clearing error" at the end of its run. I tested the car after coding and the coding was not applied. Did anyone have this problem? I even reached out to Bimmercode support and they just said to try and code to totally disable the ASS but I don't want to do that. I have another BMW that I successfully coded ASS to remember the last setting, so this is not my first attempt doing this.

I don't use bimmercode but in one of the cheat code sheets I saw a note that this particular code had to be programmed with the car off.

I can't verify that's true (i.e. I didn't try it with car on), but I successfully coded mine using esys w/ the engine off and out of diagnostic mode.

Also are you able to just toggle that code using expert mode?

Does your car have a button to turn stop/start off?

My 2021 M340i has no auto Stop/start button, so there is no “last setting” to remember. I just coded ASS to off all the time.

Sorry, but I’m confused at what you’re attempting to code.
ASS and last user setting at start up are different things.

For example, I’ve coded Sports Individual to be my mode every time
I start the car. Comfort was the default mode.

I prefer ASS off so coded that off. If you don’t code it off,
it will only be active in Comfort mode and perhaps Sports individual
with engine in comfort. I never tested that, so not sure.

I use BimmerCode. I don’t think ASS has any connection to
to remembering last user setting. No clue how you did it on your
other BMW.

OP has a 430 (no MHEV) which, to my understanding, has the ASS button. It's the MHEV models that lacks the button (but on the other hand has an automatic stop start function that works better).

Think I understand now. OP wants ASS to apply to any mode the car starts in.
I’m assuming it’s only active in Comfort like the 3 series?

From what I understand, in the 3 series ASS is defeated automatically by being in Sport or Sport plus modes. So, if coding one of those remembered start up modes, ASS will not be active. No coding could activate it.

So, it’s not the ASS “remembering” the last start up mode, it’s the startup mode
being able to activate the ASS.

No clue on the 430i. Especially, the 2023.
Looks like BimmerCode might not have caught up yet with coding options for newer models.

Having the same issue on my 2020 after updating to 03/2023. Maybe BMW is cracking down on ASS coding?

Code to default to Sport Individual, you won't have the engine shut off

Email from Bimmercode:

coding this option does not have any effect on the latest BMW software due to changes made by BMW. We are working on a solution, but unfortunately there is no quickfix available for this issue.

I just updated my X5 to the newest BMW software and now after coding multiple times the start/stop feature can't be coded anymore. Shoot! Hope this can be fixed soon!

Yeah, was coming on here to ask about this issue. Was prompted this weekend for the 3/23 update and this of course isn't working any longer. Thanks for the bimmercode response...they are just lazy now and have mostly wrote the app off from what I can tell. No easy fix. Bet with esys it is easy.

Going to code sport individual as default and guess that is the workaround.

Thx

Yep I started a separate thread asking if anyone has been successful with Esys or BimmerUtility. It might not just be a Bimmercode issue. Some of us might not want to use the Sport Individual workaround. My default startup is ADAPTIVE mode and I'm currently using SPI for a different set of parameters for sporty drive.

Same issue here (‘20 M340i), latest software update nixed ASS. I’ve tried a couple times with BimmerCode but it doesn’t work to turn it off. Anyone figure this out? ASS sucks a$$! 😁

Yep, same with my 2022 M235i

Yep, same with my 2022 M235i. The latest update from BMW broke Bimmercode's ability to negate auto start/stop. I have since coded the default to sport mode, but this is not the fix I want long term. Hopefully, the folks at Bimmercode can counter BMW soon.
