RunFlats
Hi All,
My 320i 2019 has the runflats all round. One of my front tyres is starting to wear down to near the 3mm level so might have to change in a few months or so. I always change in pairs but was just wondering if it's ok to put non runflats on the front rather than getting runflats to replace them. The plan would be to get when the back tyres go to replace with non runflats. Is it ok to replace one pair at a time? I understand I would need to carry a tyre inflation system but that's all fine as I have one from the back of my TTS that I sold! Any advice would be great! Cheers |

If it’s not X drive then no problem in doing that. There will undoubtedly be a host of posts to follow saying it will upset the handling but I did exactly what you propose with no ill effects at all.

Hi, yeah its not X drive. I only do the daily commute in my BMW and have come from an Audi TTS so no BMW handles as good as she did.
Having a little one changed all that which is why I made the switch to BMW. Audi Tec at the mo is behind. The g20 is a great family car which for the mo is why I need it. I hate the runflats tho and want stick some Pilot 4S on her, but as said a pair at a time. GOD I MISS QUATTRO!!!! |

What happens if you have a xdrive?
I'm thinking of getting rid of the runflats (i've been told that road noise is apparently quieter with normal tyre) as they are getting close to the minimum. Will it work? |

I had run flats all round when I purchased it and then got a nail in a front tyre in the first week so changed the fronts to pilot 4s and they are great. Still got run flats on the rear but will change them in the next few weeks. Not had any problems or negative experiences having non run flats on the front with run flats on the back, just be mindful of it so if your pushing the car a bit and hit a bump mid corner expect the back to jump a tiny bit more than the front due the difference in tyres but really will be fine |
