This is obviously not as likely to happen in America where big engines are cheap (untaxed). However, in may other countries, engines are taxed based on displacement so for many in Europe, 2 liter engines are considered a healthy size. This doesn't take into consideration operating costs such as gasoline and energy taxes. Also, it's much harder to speed in other countries so there's even less point of buying a car with a big engine. So people will buy a 1.8 or 2.0 liter engine and then add-on a bunch of M Performance parts.

In America, it's simply cheaper to upgrade to the higher trim higher engine variants. That's why you don't really see many M Performance cars in America. There's no point when you can get an M340i for much less money than something like this 330i with individual paint and decked out in M Performance parts.

Finally, cars like this are purely for demonstration. They don't expect people to actually outfit a car like this. They figure someone might want the paint, or someone might like the carbon fiber diffuser. They don't expect someone to get all of them when you could buy an M3 for just a few thousand more.

I wonder why people like you always have to make comments like this.

Christ that Golf looks bland in comparison though, very frumpy.

Front is a 225/35 20". Can't see the rear, but good guess is it's a 255/30 20". Those front rotors look tiny on 20's.

Also, not a fan of the new door handles. Don't like the large oval that the entire handle sits in, looks way too JDM. Rest looks decent, bet the new M3/4 will look tight.

Damn. Not very wide then....

I’ve never been able to understand how the tire sizes work - maybe a wider tire would work. These would look great on the F87.

Best G20 I've seen yet and it's growing on me - very slowly. As someone who's looking forward to the G82 in 2021, I have concerns with a few of the 7th gen styling cues that could carry forward.

First: The grill even with the black surround is hideous. It's both awkwardly styled and placed. I don't like the new design, new size, or how it rides up onto the hood. Second: The rear reflectors are too prominent in such an elevated position. Reflector delete mod is a must.

Likes: I disagree with those that say it has a Lexus rear end and think this is a big improvement over the previous 3er.

Looks like the collaboration between BMW and Toyota didn't stop with the Supra.. looks like some aesthetic DNA from Lexus IS line has been infused to this G20 series (especially the tail lights). BUT I like it tho.. well done BMW!

It can be very confusing and is why there's a whole industry helping people fit wheels. Not sure what you know or don't know, but here are the basics.

Rim width governs how wide a tire you can fit without it being stretched, usually 1.5". For example, if your tire is 225mm wide it'll fit on a rim that's 7.5-9".

Offset determines where the wheel sits on the hub, either recessed in such as the stock setup, hellaflush, wheel poke, etc. This is what confuses most. Positive offset actually means the wheel is recessed in further.

Example, a rim that is 10" wide will have it's center line at 5". The offset is where the wheel mounts in relation to the center line. So if the wheel has a +40mm offset, the wheel hub will be "offset" +40mm from the wheels center line which recesses the wheel further into the wheel well. A negative offset does just the opposite, pushes the wheel out more. You'll rarely see negative offsets, most are positive, but playing with that will determine where the wheel sits. Rule of thumb, the higher the offset numer the more the wheel is recessed in, the lower the more the wheel is pushed out.

Offset example (each dash is 1")

An offset of 0 on 10" wheel would be right in the middle at 5" -----|-----

An offset of +40mm on 10" wheel would sit +40mm off center ---|------

There are all sorts of other factors come into play such as lowering a car and getting the right offset without rubbing the fender/quarter panel, being able to turn the steering wheel from left to right lock without rubbing inside the wheel well, clearing brake calipers, clearing suspension components, etc.

Clear as mud?

What a fantastic looking vehicle.

Dravit looks to be a dark shard of Nardo Grey. That or Porsche's Grey Black

I think it’s just because the straight on shot is so close - but I’m curious as well.

At least it doesn’t have the idiotic trapezoidal and fake tail pipes that the “performance” model has.
